Excellent quantitative analysis
Munson shows you how to apply empirical validation to the software development process.I say software development instead of engineering because that is where the industry is happily situated at the moment.To move beyond the reality of software craftsmanship, as glorified by popular books such as "The Pragmatic Programmer", the software industry MUST embrace an engineering discipline.To that end, Munson uses proven statistical analysis methods to measure and thus quantify the use of software metrics in the software engineering process.
Mathematically correct - excellent book
Excellent book on measurement techniques with solid math and statistical formulas that I worked through using Maple.The measurement process presented is a great template for getting to CMM level 4 or 5.As a software engineering manager concerned with quality, measurement and metrics I found this book to be worthy of including in our workgroup library and using it for the development of a measurement process.I highly recommend it.

Huge reference & intro, very well written.
Wow, this is an amazing book.It covers precision temperature measurement in an authoritative way, and provides background material like measurement science and statistics.This includes by far the best discussion of thermocouples of the many I have read, and I will never feel blissful again when using them.The discussion on platinum resistance thermometry is thorough and most insightful, including excellent coverage of electrical resistance measurement.I am going through the book now and section after section is far exceeding my expectations.
all you want to know about temperature calibration
This one book covers alot of ground in enought detail to keep most of us happy...I havent found a single source which covers all the main bases this well.

Informative book - wider than title implies
This book not only covers temperature trace ability but also covers subjects like how a temperature sensor's construction will affect the long-term stability of measurements. However information about how the associated measurement equipment is constructed and how it affects thelong-term temperature measurement stability is not thoroughlydiscussed.Read more

Nothing dry in this history!
NB this review refers to the 1988 reprint of the 1974 edition. So you thought Jack and Jill were just a couple of clumsy kids trying to get some water from the well? Think again - the familiar nursey rhyme is a piece of political satire from the time of Charles1. Klein's book is full of similar snippets that will serve you in good stead at a dinner party! "Science of Measurement" is an excellent coverage of the SI units - although even this reprint is missing the major redefinition of the metre in 1983. Use this book as a history, and as a guide to the physics behind measurements, but for the most up-to-date definitions of the units you'll want to check a more recent publication. ... Read more

A Self- Study Guide to the Basics of Pressure, Level and Density Measurements
This is a good introductory book to be used as a self-study guide to the Basics of Industrial Applications of Pressure, Level and Density Measurements.
Basic Overview of Instrumentation
For those interested in such things as pressure gauges, transducers, level sensors, etc., I found this to be a good basic textbook-style overview.It describes how these instruments work in a very basic yet thorough way.Other books covering these subjects seem to be well over [price], so I'm confused by the previous reviewer's comments.Also, I didn't notice errors.While I am not an expert, I do have five year's experience in the process instrumentation industry.This book has been a helpful reference for me.

Industrial Pressure, Level and Density Measurement
This book covers the basics of the subject material however it is repleat with errors.Equations are sometimes incorrect (page 9).The author mixes tense in the same sentence.From an academic standpoint it is probably O.K..It is obvious that the author has little practical (or field) experience.Considering the price I cannot reccomend this book as there are many other titles that contain a better treatment of the subject matter. ...
