Good Book but, Over Priced
I have some basic knowledge of irrigation and right off the bat I was irritated with the way the chapters where laid out.He starts right in with sprinkler head performance and layout before going into the explanation of irrigation, and the basic principles of hydraulics that I believe should be the foundation what you learn first before anything else.The other thing that was that for the money I don't believe it was worth it maybe more like $20-25.Most of the information you can find on the internet searches.But, all in all it was a very easy reading book that did help me fill some holes in my irrigation knowledge.

Simplified irrigation design
This resource is excellent. Extreme detail, great illustrations, and information that is not provided by other typical irrigation books you'll find at Home Depot. I'm a landscape designer and highly recommend this resource.

Great book to learn to install a professional system
I read this book to get ready to take my Texas Irrigation License exam. It explained how to properly install a professional quality sprinkler system in an easy to read and understand format. I really liked this book of the way it is written for easy understanding and examples. Also the author is very helpful in adding more insights into the various topics and even to the extent of communicating with one on one. I really recommend this book to any programmer.

Same material in 1988 edition!
For those of us looking for new up-to-date technical information in the process field we will have to go elsewhere.This book contains the same basic information as in the first edition.While it has some good material for learning beginning theoretical process control at the technical level it is a waste of money if you are interested in modern technology.

An opus work on the operation and application of sensors
This unwieldy tome is a great book on just about every kind of sensor you could think of. It is an edited work, and consists of over 100 chapters/articles written by different groups of individuals. In spite of that, the book has a good logical flow.

This book leaves something to be desired
I have been reading this book for a class. I must say that this book is not as detailed as I would like it to be. I am an engineer and my expectation was that when a statement is made details would be provided to backup the statements. And the figures in the book are not easy to understand quickly. A clear, comprehensive look at a difficult topic.
I am the author of this book.The book is now entering its twelfth printing and has sold tens of thousands of copies to universities, companies and individuals throughout the world.It not only contains all of the basics of dimensioning and tolerancing, but at 624 pages is long enough to show the reader how to apply the language of GD&T to single parts and assemblies.I constantly get emails and personal comments from readers telling me how much they love the book.One person in charge of GD&T at Daimler/Chrysler told me he couldn't imagine a better book on the topic. Another said his whole department relied on it for the answers to all their GD&T questions.I decided to write in because there were two "reviews" listed by Amazon customers. One reviewer liked the book and the other didn't.The one who didn't said he couldn't even understand the book's Foreword.Since all I wrote in the Foreword was that GD&T was a language of symbols and rules and then proceeded to thank the individuals who helped me construct the book, I had to wonder what could possibly have confused him.I just wanted the customers of Amazon to know this is a serious treatment of a difficult topic and one of the most comprehensive texts ever written about GD&T.

Unreadable
This book is poorly organized and written. Even the introduction requires the reader to understand material not yet introduced until later chapters. The author repeatedly alludes to subtleties and nuances which obscures clear meaning and hinders the learning process. The book is unreadable and I am returning it for credit.

Handbook of Dimensional Measurement
This book is not for the average reader. It uses extremely technical terms to convey simple expressions. Explanations such as thread concepts were over stated and confusing. I returned my copy.

A Must Have Tool for any Student or Practitioner of any field of Engineering

To: Lost in Air Mr. Hicks' approach to sizing pipe for compressed air
Mr. Hicks has done a wonderful job in compling equations, however, he has missed the practical applications in compressed air and vacuum systems.I initially used his theoritcal position on calculating pressure drop in pipe for compressed air.His position seems reasonable and logical until you compare the results with practical applications.Ingresoll-Rand, the air compressor manufacturer, published tables of pressure drop verses pipe sizes, delivery pressures and ACFM.Futher ASPE has published a data book which leads the engineer into an empirical equation for calculating pressure loss in compressed air piping.The results with both Ingresoll-Rand and ASPE agree.Using Mr. Hicks' therotical approach drives the pipe size much larger than needed and therefore the cost of the project.My suggestion is that Mr. Hicks contact I-R and ASPE to incorporate their empirical approach to sizing pipe for compressed air and vacuum systems. ... This book rocks!
Great technical book packed only with useful information. Great section on understanding basic electrical parameters. I needed a position sensor and this book taught me what to look for, and how to understand it.

The chapters about sensors and specs in general are great for new engineers to understand what's important in designing sensors. The rest of the chapters give an understanding of many types of sensors. The author's style is to be short and to the point, just what I like.
