An important if flawed book
Make no mistake. This is an important book. Zeldman is a leader in the web standards movement and his voice is worth paying attention to. On the plus side, he offers some good talking points for using with bosses and clients on why designing with web standards is a good thing. He also gives reasonable and well thought out examples and case studies of well designed sites.
Lots of knowledge, somewhat redundant
I got this book a while back and did learn a lot from it, which some of the tips and techniques I still use today. However I did find the book to be very redundant in some of the explanations and techniques. I did however like the fact that real world examples where given and there was no browser favoring from the author which is really good considering a book isn't suppose to be an ad like so many other authors seem to think.
2nd Edition Review: a great reference with a few chapters of rambling in the beginning
To say Jeffrey Zeldman is a character is an understatement. However, he's earned his right, in a way, to stand in his soapbox and preach about web standards, since he's been pushing them for quite a while now. However, the book suffers from one main problem: it takes over 100 pages to get to the point (designing with web standards). In the first few chapters he goes on for a while about what's wrong with the state of the web, what things are being done violating the standards, etc. to the point that it gets a little old.

Pricey but essential
Revised, expanded, and essential to anyone in the building industry because these codes apply across the board, including virtually all states in the US.The IBC has replaced state and other building codes.This volume provides information in the English measuring system. I prefer the looseleaf edition to the bound volume because it folds completely open and you can leaf through the pages more easily, as you are constantly being referred from one section to another.Of course you will want to update your other international code books as well. ... Very practical and easy to read
This is probably one of the best books in the market today for test engineers and product engineers. Most of the discussions are oriented towards catching some of the common mistakes made during the development of a test methodology for a circuit. It teaches test/product engineers what to look for when they encounter test problems(which keep popping up very regularly!). I would have appreciated a more detailed chapter on the statistical analysis of test data and analysis of datalogs to determine test issues but I guess that would take up much more space. I would also have preferred reading about some case studies where test issues were investigated and the solution found, but that too would have taken up some space. In all, this is THE book for test/product engineers who deal with a myriad of testers in the market today. A Quick solution of test related issues is key to huge savings in production costs and reading this book end-to-end will definitely aid in the debug of test related issues.

useful engineering text
This book is well written but it does require that you pay attention and think. I found this book to be very useful to understand engineering measurements. After three engineering coop internships, I enjoyed some rationale for methods I learned in practice. Lots of examples. Some of the Labview programs were helpful. One of the more useful texts.
mistakes
By the middle of the second chapter I realised that a monkey proofread this book. I couldnt believe there were as many stupid mistakes as there actually were.
Test engineers need this one
I used the 2nd edition of this book while in engineering labs at Clemson and now use the 2nd and now 3rd edition in my test engineering work. I find myself being able to go into it and pulling out enough information to get me going on a new test design project. The stuff on uncertainty cannot be found elsewhere and useful. Just an overblown IMAQ User Manual
This book was pretty disappointing - all of the information in it is easily found for free in either the IMAQ user manual, or at the National Insutruments Developer Zone - www.zone.ni.com.

A very helpful guide
As lawyers who advise technology companies we try to be familiar with the technology and products our clients use.We do not buy many technical books, but we wanted this one because of the legal implications in image processing.We found the book to be a very useful guide and to be written in language that, while not "simple," gave us a clear and succinct, practical view into and understanding of the technology and products.

reduce your EMI
If you are a circuit designer building a commercial product, then it is necessary to minimise the RF emissions. But many texts on circuitry gloss over the details of how to do this. Perhaps considered too uninteresting.
Misleading
This book is well oganized and easy to use, but the information is often incorrect. We have found it to cause more problems than solve. Paul Clayton's book come much more highly recommended.

The book covers alot of material, but often repeats itself in later chapters.
Test and Measurement Bible

The Only You Will Ever Need on Flow Meters
Highly detailed in every way. Complete equations suitable for computer programming. In fact, Rosemount and other companies refer to this handbook exclusively. The index is the best way to use this book. As handbooks go, it is easy to use and an excellent compilation of vendor information as well as original R&D information. There are a few quarks in the equations for integral orifices, but the actual errors are negligable. I got improved equations from Rosemount. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is that it takes some time to dig information from the handbook. It's all there, but, it takes time to digest it. Outstanding Desktop Reference
I looked long and hard for a book this thorough.A buddy of mine had Crevelings tolerancing book and I thought that was excellent.As I finished my masters degree, I needed a thorough desktop reference that I thought represented best in class.That's exactly what this book is.Since each chapter is written by the major players in these areas, this book is much more than one authors views on the topics.Rather, it is a best in class compilation from some of the sharper folks here in the US doing dimensioning and tolerancing.Paul's chapters themselves are excellent and very thorough.His discussion on how to incorporate the geometric controls into stackup analyses is excellent.Overall, this book should be on every mechanical engineers desktop along with the ASME GD&T standard and Montgomery's books on Quality Control and Design of Experiments.Hats off to Paul and all the other authors for their excellent work!

bought used, great value
I would say the first 1/2 is GD&T. The 2nd 1/2 covers tolerancing methods. I have learned a lot from the 2nd half. It covered a lot of new information, in clear terms. I have been through six sigma certification. This is a valuable book in my toolbox.
