What a geat tool!
This book has everything needed to ensure nothing is left out during the building process.There were ideas in here I had not thought of.An excellant tool for anyone getting ready to build, add on or refurbish a barn.

Good for beginners
This book gives an excellent overview of what it takes to build a barn, from choosing the type, to preparing the gound, to hiring sub-contractors.Althought the plans can hardly be said to be "complete," they do give a good idea of how different barn styles go together. You'll still need someone knowlegeable in buidling to help you in the actual construction. The plans include several innovative barn types and shapes. Things you won't find anyplace else
This book is full of things you won't find anyplace else, maybe becausemost of them haven't been around for a hundred years or so. The book islike wandering through a living museum. We bought a country place a yearago and this book (and Farm Devices, Harris on the Pig, Farm Conveniencesand fences, Gates and Bridges, all of which we also own) are exactly theright thing if you want to add an authentic touch to a porch or a barn. In Total Praise
My first exposure to Roger Welsch came from his "Post Cards From Nebraska" as aired on CBS's "Sunday Morning". The folks at CBS, lost a viewer, now that the "Postcard" segments are rarely included. Don't even own a tractor
but Roger is such an interesting writer that anyone regardless of their life style will find this book entertaining..a book that is hard to walk away from..

Ol' Rog does it again!
Yep, some folks may have seen this material before, since this book's a compilation of Welsch's enrapturing material written for Successful Farming magazine.I haven't, because I'm too cheap to subscribe, but I still got to enjoy all this hilariouswriting because my wife bought me the book for Christmas. There's something genuinely funny about Roger Welsch, and whether the topic is tractors, love, or interior decoration, it shines through in his thoughtful and eloquent writing. Roger starts each essay with a topic related to tractors, tractor restoration, or tractor enthusiasts, and by applying his gentle humor and a creative logic that suggests a tenuous grasp of reality, crafts gem-like vignettes of modern rural life. This book is in a class with the author's LOVE, SEX, AND TRACTORS or Howard Mohr's HOW TO TALK MINNESOTAN ... it was so funny I had to take it out to the shed and read parts of it to my John Deere "A".We both had a good laugh. ... The History Of Tractors With Great Photographs
This is a nice book for persons involved in farming and tractors. It is an attractive large-size full-color book that is an excellent coffee table book. If you have been involved with tractors over the years, you will certainly enjoy this book's look back on the American Farm Tractors over the years.
This book will definately be a "keeper".
Bought for my husband for Christmas since he comes from a few generations of tractor owners this book was the perfect gift for him to gather his son on his lap and share stories and pictures. We wish it had more pictures of more classic oldies. The brief histories given on the pictured tractors are pretty good though. I bought this book second hand, in great condition and plan on saving to give to our son when he has children so he can pass along the stories. ... Read more
