Diffusers: in-depth discussion
This book is more concentrated on diffusers than absorbers, with extensive care on Schroeder diffusers. Also it is more concentrated on acoustical physics than the discussion on various acoustic materials.

Good Air Quality Primer
This book provides a good foundation in air quality issues bringing together the basic meteorology, chemistry, biology, and political/regulatory information needed to understand the field. The book assumes some basic science background but Godish presents technical information clearly enough for environmental managers and nontechnical professionals to get a basic understanding of air quality issues. Godish could make the book more accessable to introductory students by spending more time defining and explaining some of the technical terminology in the book. As it is, some students may have to spend more time with the dictionary than they are used to. Air quality professionals will find this book a good refresher but those looking for a technically advanced book should look elsewhere. The treatment of regulatory issues emphasizes the US. Non-americans will still benefit from the bulk of the book. For an introductory student looking for a start in the field, I would give the book 4 stars, for an environmental manager looking to gain a better understanding of air quality or an air quality professional looking for a good refresher, I would give the book five stars, for an air quality professional looking for a technical reference, I would give the book 2 to 3 stars. ... Avro Arrow
Bought this for my husband's birthday and he loves it.Enjoyed the technical part and feels the story line is pretty close to the facts.Pictures are great.

truly engrossing
One of the finest book dedicated to this controversial program! Being interested in technical details and aircraft perfomances,I found many factory drawings about structures, internal systems arrangements, armamentlayout and cutaway views. Important performance figures are available fromtables and charts. But the most interesting feature is the the descriptionof the development and testing phase that shows all the potential of thisdoomed plane. Finally some basic facts on an aircraft still surrounded byan halo of mistery about its birth and its death!

An outboard collector's reference
After reading the 2nd edition of Peter Hunn's The Old Outboard Book I couldn't wait to get the revised and expanded 3rd edition. I take the book with me when I go looking for old outboards and swap meets. No better reference exists in my opinion.

The Old Outboard Book
This book has become the "Bible" for most outboard collectors.It has everything in one place.The big list ofalmost ALL known US outboard manufacturers,The price guide which is the only published guide of its kind, developed thru consultation with a good cross section of prominent and active collectors, Great Serial number guides, Spark plug charts, and much more.Peter's style is very readable, with a "story" connected to each brand. Hundreds of outboard collectors keep a copy in their car, while touring the country looking for additions to their collections.Most helpful to identify, and value that Garage sale or Outboard meet, find.HIGHLY recommended, especially for those new to the hobby.

Save Your Money
This book is stretched between a technical manual and a coffee table book way too tight. Hunn covers the larger manuf. with research that could be found on any historical website, and briefly touches on the rare and obscure in general descriptions.Do not rely on this book for technical information.Simply order specific parts lists for the motors you have. I would like to know if Hunn's other book was better as a picture book, as this one was too poorly written to be of any enjoyment. ... Read more

This was an excellent book which described the achievements and events of Edgar Schmeud, the principle designer of the P-51 Muatang. It also gives an in depth history of the accelerated development of the mustang during WWII. Amazing -- the best book on US WWII fighters
This is the best, most-amazing book on US WWII fighter aircraft that I have ever read, and I've read a lot of them.There are other good ones out there, but this one is very special.I didn't even know about it until it was mentioned by a fellow pilot in Aces High.I'm very glad for that chance method by which I learned of this fine work.

excellent and comprehensive
Make no mistake, this book isn't for military enthusiasts who want to know about the operational history of the planes mentioned and who shot down what with it, leave that to the hundreds of other books out there on the same subject. The purpose of this book is to give you a true in-depth and technical understanding of each of america's fighter aircraft.
The best overall book on American Fighters of WW2.
If you need info on how these planes worked, real detail, not the typical picture book fluff, in the average book, this is the book for you.

More than a gun book
I just finished re-reading War Baby and I can attest that Larry Ruth did a bang up job on presenting a great amount of data.While the specifics on parts identification is there for collectors, and many diagrams of differences between manufacturers is helpful to the committed carbine nut, the greatest strength of this work is the painstaking research done to give a solid appreciation of what our country was like during WWII and to identify and honor the industrialists who overcame almost unbelieveable odds to get this rifle into the hands of troops.Each manufacturer has a section with tidbits and trivia about their successes and failures.The heroics of the employees of these various companies is highlighted and credit is given to shop foremen, designers, ordnance officials, and the average worker who made the whole system work.This is a fascinating historical work even if you're not interested in the carbine.It's expensive but you'll not be sorry.

A Excellent, Updated View of Meteorology
This book is really much more than simply a discussion of mountain weather.This book introduces the layperson and professional alike to the complex interaction between terrain and the atmosphere, both on the global and regional scale.In a clean well written manner, with lots of informative graphics, Whiteman goes beyond many of the simplistic coffeetable books, but never leaves understanding and clarity behind. Very Useful Reference
This book is well written. It is a useful reference for those who forecast for mountainous locations. The book is organized in small, discrete sections without lots of unneeded derivations. Lots of useful graphics and illustrations make this one of the most used books on my shelf. It is also quite useful for teaching others how weather is modified by terrain.

Expedient Homemade Firearms: The 9mm Submachine Gun
A very interesting read, simple step by step instructions.If you can obtain the materials & trust the authors word-in no time at all you would probably have a neat little weapon on your hands.

Greatest Book
This is a must have for all gun fans. It shows exactly how to build an automatic gun any size from 22 caliber to 12 gauge. Can be built by anyone from simple easily found materials, it looks great too.

Decent How to
Great shop drawings for Machining parts.. Historical information about the Metral. In a SHTF scenario this will/would be a useful book to have on the workbench.

A perfect, practical book
As an acoustics consultant, I frequently use this well organised, to-the-point book as a reference.Lots of construction details, technical drawings and test results allow you to grab the essence of the subject very quickly. Sometimes, I bring my copy to workshops and manufacturers to discuss details. The graphical language of the authors makes my life easier during those discussions.

Designing Power & Sail by Arthur Edmunds
Very nice reference manual. More drawings and diagrams would make this a better book.

It covers the basics
I found the book to be quite informative from a preliminary point of view. The book covers the main areas of yacht design and construction in a condensed way. I say that only because if you are looking for a deeper understanding of the some of the fundemental principles (math and science stuff) at work in a yacht you won't find it in this book. You do get a great summation though. It was a great introduction into the boat design process. I would highly recommend the book if you need to get a grip on the basic issues at work in the design and construction of craft in the 30 - 100 foot class.

Extermely in depth learning and reference tool.
This is the first (recent) design book I have found that truely covers all aspects of boat design and construction for all building materials, boat types and boat sizes. It's easy to understand but the reader must be sharpin math to properly use the information.Read more
