Outstanding Resource
"The Global Citizen" is a MUST READ for anyone seeking to establish an international lifestyle. I especially liked the sections that allowed real people who've moved abroad the opportunity to write about their experiences. These "journal entries" gave me a lot of inspiration. The book is loaded with program information for study, voluteering and work abroad. There is a chapter on financing your journeys which offers information about scholarships and grants that I didn't even know existed! I highly recommend "The Global Citizen" for anyone serious about going abroad short-term or long-term.

Good introductory value, poor on details
If you are under 20, not sure what to do with your life and contemplating about how cool it is to travel to Europe and save the rain forests - this book is perfect for you (even better if you want to save rain forests in Europe). Then, if you are not from US, don't have kickass amount of money to spend or know exactly what you want - bypass this title.
Inspirational Book!
This book is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone!The author writes on a personal level like she is talking to you and it is also written from a emotional level so it is easy to understand.This book gets you excited about all the possibilities and the author explains any fears you may have and how you can get over them and overall she gets the word across to never give up!She also gives e-mail adresses from other people who have experience travel.This is a great book, everyone can benefit from this. ... A "must read" for executives and operations consultants
This is the best organized and most useful book I have read on the topic of six-sigma and its role in driving business performance.Mr. Gupta builds on the core concepts behind six-sigma in crisp, clear language and links these concepts to highly practical techniques that can be readily implemented and tracked.No operations executive or consultant should be without this valuable handbook!

Excellent Resource - The Six Sigma Performance Handbook
Praveen Gupta's book entitled "The Six Sigma Performance Handbook" is an excellent resource for individuals having the desire to learn how to benefit from the Six Sigma methodology. In reading this book, you will learn that application of the Six Sigma toolkit is within the reach of virtually anyone. You do not need to possess an extraordinary intellect. In fact, most of the tools described within Gupta's book indicate that a methodical application of qualitative and graphical methods are fully capable of taking you significantly toward the goal for which you are reaching. The book does also provide a good overview of the quantitative methods that may be applied to validate the proposed process changes. As one of the pioneers in the development and application of Six Sigma methods, Praveen Gupta has seen it all and this book is a great asset in raising the skill level of Six Sigma practitioners, whether they be new to the field or already possess a working knowledge of the tools.

A handbook for Excellence through practical means
I have found that Praveen's book is an excellent guide to the six sigma process. It takes one beyond the black belt image that six sigma has held and transoports you to the next level of managment excellence. His book a is a great guide to quality managers for problem solving and to all other staff managers and presidents to bring thier organizations to excellence.

Encyclopedia of Science and Technology by James Trefil
This work is an important scientific achievement written in Excellent in every way; the best of its class
The best science & technology encyclopedia of its class (affordable desktop size of less than 1000 pages). Articles are lengthy and meaty. Well indexed and well illustrated; excellent cross-indexing indicating pre- and post- requisite articles. Content of articles is very up to date and just right regarding level of sophistication for the intelligent lay public: not watered down yet not too difficult. Articles are interesting and thought provoking, taking the reader beyond mere comprehension of empirical scientific facts toward deeper understanding and meaning.

Whether you are a serious student of science and/or technology, or just posess a casual interest in the broad spectrum of the two subjects, this book is as slick as they get. It's packed with tons of useful information from the inner workings of computers, to the amazing physics behind our universe. It's beautifully organized (each entry points you to what item in the book you should read before and after the current one), it's filled with excellent color illustrations and photos, and it never gets boring browsing the 1000+ entries. Unbelievably through and easy to use as areference...
Just like his teaching, Humar's book is straight forward and no-nonsense. This man is THE prof to have for complexe subject matter and his text is just the same: THE reference for dynamic analysis of structures. Presents all the relevant information you require, with easy to follow examples and a clarity we all wish was the standard for engineering publications. I have not even taken this as a course text, but looked into and purchased as a desk reference.... wound up reading a good portion of the book out of personal interest. Simply the best book on structural dynamics
This book is a real "must have" for anyone who loves structural dynamics and would like to study further.Even though it is expensive, I really think that it's worth it.There is no other book as thorough as this book in this subject.I just simply like this book, and also because I know the author is a tremendously nice professor.

I am a graduate student in earthquake engineering and structural dynamics. I have almost all of the books that are out there on the subject. I find this book to be the best. It is more advanced than other books on the subject (e.g. Chopra, Clough&Penzien, Tedesco et al., etc.) but also more comprehensive and thorough.Read more

Only if you are a complete newbie
I bought this book based on rave reviews on Amazon.com. However, I pretty disappointed. It's nicely produced and has lots of pretty good pictures, but it should be considered only a bare-bones introduction to sheet metal work for beginners. It very briefly covers all the basic topics related to making sheet metal items for car bodies, aircraft, etc. But it does not go into nearly enough detail to cover any of these topics. It's more like an overview of basic tools and techniques. You could find all this information just by surfing the web. I give it a thumbs down.

I found this book the very best covering creating complex metal forms out of flat metal sheet. Anyone interestaed in forming unique parts or limited series sheet metal products will find a wealth of information. Anybody interested in Aircraft construction and repair, automotive prototypes, racing cars and compond-curve fabrication will find this book of extreme interest. Best book for beginner
I only have a few metal working tools in my garage but I enjoy the craft and I have spent quite a bit of time learning the tricks. This is the best book I have found on sheet metal. Not the greatest book for me
I guess I don't understand construction details, but I didn't understand a single problem in this book.I had to refer to my Construction: Materials, Methods, and Techniques by William Spence in order to answer the review questions.The problems were writtin in short hand with abbreviations I didn't know.I think this book might be a little intimidating to someone who is not familiar with construction or detailing. ... Excellent, portable, easy to use.
Very good reference guide to have while assessing forest.Is portable enought to take along, without being unreasonably heavy and bulky.Still need definitive text to refer back to, since it's not all-inclusive, but then again, it isn't supposed to be.

The Forestry Handbook contains a wealth of information for foresters and other natural resource managers.It's not a book that you read from start to finish (even discounting the 1,335 page length).Rather, it is a superb reference book.I use the Handbook frequently, and have a copy both at work and at home. outstanding book

Great book for a new facilitator; Good review for experienced facilitators
This book is a good tool for new facilitators.Provides good instructions and guides that will help in organizing meetings and developing facilitation plans.For the experienced facilitator, it provides helpful reminders and useful checklists.

Facilitation course members love this book
I teach a master's level course in facilitation and team dynamics.Justice and Jamieson is by far the most useful and popular book in that course.Students use it heavily in designing facilitation processes during the course, and I hear them recommending to others that they KEEP their J&J handy because they'll continue to use it.Especially helpful:the quick overviews of group dynamics, overt/covert issues, team member roles, leadership processes. It helps to provide this background knowledge for the students.The options and explanations list many more choices and rationales than usually seen in a book like this.Examples:multiple approaches to brainstorming, agenda development, session evaluation, interventions to manage conflict, etc. J&J's second edition (if there is one) could be a little slicker, but you wouldn't have to change much content except perhaps to have an added section on virtual facilitation.Enjoy! ...
