A Workable Handbook
Most books on Reservoir Engineering are very university-Academic oriented and its up to us field engineers to decide wether such theories are workable or not in actual practice.

Fundamentally boring
The read of this book compares to reading an Encyclopedia, a very long, fact heavy, read. Having said that the books works as a reference guide. If you need to quickly refresh yourself on the various methods of welding this book is good. If you're sitting down by the pool to educate yourself on a pipeline, this book is not for you. ... Almost unusable
Book is okay for basic formulas (i.e. heads and shells) but forget about using it for anything more.Even experienced engineers have a difficult time following some of the equations.Probably usable for a very experienced pressure vessel designer, but not recommended for anyone else.

Good reference book, but beware.
It is a good reference book to have. Avoid unless you have significant design experiance!
Although this book has "illustrated procedures for solving major pressure vessel design problems" it is full of errors and typos.Although the second edition has clarified many of the problems in the first edition, the procedures are unclear and significantly flawed.In addition, there are several instances where Mr. Moss fails to define the conditions in which certain equations should be, and should not be used.Unless you have significant experience in designing pressure vessels, avoid this book, it will only cause frustration and poorly designed units. ... Well testing with a practical focus
Most books on well testing are very academic oriented with abundant and laborious mathematical derivations and little or no indication of their use in the real world. This book by Horne is not like that. I am not a PhD student and very often do not have the time to go through lots of partial differential equations to find what I need. This is the only book on this topic which provides me quick indications of what to look at to do a quick evaluation of a well test.

H 2 brute'?
This more like a high school paper gone wrong than a serious book for adults. Typical of the nonsense circulating around lately regarding Hydrogen as an alternate fuel.Poor science, terrible reading......Does not factually deal with the real issues such as cost of distribution, storage and gasification.An insult to any reader with a brain.

what the Hydrogen Revolution is about
This book has been in publication since 1985?That is quite impressive that he started thinking about this stuff way back then.I can't believe all the negative feedback and this book is in it's 11th edition.If there are so many errors and everyone has the time to write about it here don't you think you could send the author a little note?Like "Hey Mikey, photovoltaic cells are made of silicon and implants are made of Silicone."The book is good as a rough start, I'll admit it has been very helpful to me - a professional engineer.Yes the facts and calculations need to be checked but what facts and calculations don't need to be checked?The web sites out there dealing with this stuff are either so simple that a 5 year old could understand or so in-depth that only someone very familiar with the technology could understand the tradeoffs.This book does a great job at bridging those gaps.With that said, good Job Mikey and to everyone else - if you don't like something fix it, or shut up that's what the Hydrogen Revolution is about people fixing something they don't like.

Recreational Gold Prospecting For Fun and Profit
The book is well written, easy to read, contains very useful information, good references and is conveyed pleasantly.I found reading it informative and enjoyable.It encouraged me to consider Gail Butler's other works.

Finding gold in books about finding gold
In preparation for an upcoming fulfillment of my dad's lifelong desire to do "real" gold prospecting, I researched many articles on Gold Prospecting, visited Sutters' Gold Discovery State Park on a recent vacation to Northern California, and purchased various books on the subject.This book, Recreational Gold Prospecting for Fun & Profit, seemed to encompass the most information and give good, solid advice that resonated through other sources.I've always wondered why anyone would shared their prospecting secrets - but the author comes across as a true advocate.Having been involved in other pursuits (elected public office, karate, guest speaker at PSU, etc.), I have found that the best advice is given by those who truely appreciate the activity and feel that they owe others the benefit of their experiences.Gail appears to be such a mentor to all of us want-to-bes.I would recommend this book be one of your initial sources on gold prospecting.

Profit is too large a word
I've never broken even over many years of prospecting and searching for the Lost Adams Diggings.But I wouldn't trade a moment of it.This book will help the reader by giving an excuse to go into the wilderness.The first time you look into the bottom of a pan and see glitter will be a moment you'll remember the remainder of your life.Buy it and do it! ... Francis Fukuyama, in an important slender volume, sees nation building as the process of helping to ". . .create self-sustaining democratic political institutions and robust market-oriented economies. . . ."He draws a critical distinction between "nation building" and "state building."The former refers to ". . .creating or repairing all the cultural, social, and historical ties that bind people together as a nation."The latter, in contrast, aims at ". . .creating or strengthening such government institutions as armies, police forces, judiciaries, central banks, tax-collection agencies, health and education systems, and the like."The two are not the same--but are interdependent one upon the other.
An apologetic defense from a neo-con theorist
This book seems like an introductory political science book but its language is simple enough for a general audience to understand. Everyone who has an interest in the political background and details of the current World events can find a lot of interesting discussions.
