Reliability

Patent information repackaged
Have you ever read a US Patent all the way through?That's what this book consists of -- a group of interesting and ingenious patents.Ie: very text based and very tediously written.For example: "Shaft A rotates within the proximity of cam B in a concentric manner producing a force C which exposes gate D to a level of thrust.... and so on"
Not for me
I was pretty dissapointed in this set. Perhaps it's better suited for an engineer. I bought 507 Mechanisms at the same time and found it to be much easier to understand even though it was originally published over 100 years ago. I sent this set back b/c it just wasn't worth the money to me. ... Read more

Machine Elements in Mechanical Design is a great work!
I really have enjoyed using this book. It's a great overview of all elements in a mechanical design and the calculations necessary to make sure those elements do not fail under load.
Excellent book for a working machine designer
I bought this book to get the basics of machine design and I am very happy with it.It has the basic stuff that you need to design mechanical devices.It covers the material very thoroughly and it does not blow you away with advanced math.Highly recommended.

A Valve Primer
I teach equipment fundamentals at nuclear power plants.This is a very straightforward well written little book on basic valve construction.It covered most of the Knowledge and Abilities required on this subject by theNRC.If you want basic training on valves, pick up a copy.

I can't believe I bought this book...
Very poorly orginized.Concepts are referenced before being introduced.Explanations are at best superficial.Elemental information is nonexistent.Numerous mistakes in the text and diagrams.Feels like extra information thrown just to bulk it up.

A sloppy and oversimplified overview of CNC
This book tries too hard to cover all aspects CNC and all types of CNC machining.It fails on both fronts.Conversational programming methods are woefully simplistic and often inaccurate.The diagrams are confusingand repetitive.There are not enough examples of actual CNC programs andproper explanations of each individual code.There are far better CNCbooks on the market.Anyone with no CNC background will gain little formthis book.Those with CNC experience will shake their hands and correctthe numerous mistakes in the text.
