The Classic Text
In the fall semester of 1980, I sat a class in the civil engineering department of the University of Missouri--Rolla on open channel hydraulics. The instructor used Chow's Open-Channel Hydraulics as the text. I was a dual-enrolled senior at the time and this course counted toward my graduate degree.
A Classic for a Reason
A professor teaching my Open Channel Flow class stated that this book is widely regarded as "The Bible" of open channel hydraulics.After reviewing a library copy, I was so impressed with it that I bought one for myself.The text is written in a clear, concise language that is sorely lacking in other texts. His chapter on energy and momentum principles is especially good.Sure, it's an old text (1959) but 98% of this book is still relevant.There's a reason it still in print; engineers love it and continue to buy it! A must-have for hydraulic engineers
This is the foundational text of modern open-channel hydraulics.All engineers should have a copy.The only negative review on this page (orthat I have ever heard) is by an author (Hubert Chanson) of books whichcompete with this one. ... Read more

A good idea, not quite fully realized
This book provides an excellent and thorough introduction to the limit theory of interacting particle systems; with an assumption that the reader is familiar with the basic theory as found in (for example) Liggett.The whole development is geared towards derving hydrodynamic limits, strongly based on the works of S.R.S Varadhan. extensive converage on the subject
It covers the subject quite extensively.It would be a good reference boook. Moreover, if onewants to know about the recent developments in research on interacting particle systems, then this is the one to look for. ... Read more

Not good....
This book is bad. it is too superficial book.
Now , I study fluid mechanics twice. First time , I didn't know , superficial or detail. But I feel now It is too superficial about fluid mechanics. I am sorry that not many fluid mechanics book for engineersexist. If you have ever listend about other Transport subject , you canfeel. Great introduction
If you're just getting started in molecular dynamics, especially if it's not really where you wanted to be in the first place, this may be the book for you.
A great book for begginers.
As it's name implies this book covers only elementary methods, and this makes it extremely useful for beginners. Particularly higher undergraduate and graduate students with no previous knowledge of computer simulationmethods. It is very kind with the reader, being very explicit on manytopics other books take for granted.The sections on hard spheresimulation are particularly long compared with other books on the subject.The code included is very well organized and helpful, every book shouldhave it documented this way!. If you program in fortran it's very useful,but if you program in C I recommend Rapaport's book instead, altough it's alittle more difficult. I particularly liked the introduction aboutsimulation and some phylosophical aspects of it. ... Read more
