Great book for getting started
When I wanted to make a career change, this book was my primer on the basics of CNC programming and machining. It helped me to quickly pick up the essentials of this manufacturing process. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to get a foundation or refresher course in the basics, such as understanding shop math, G code programming, tooling, set-ups, speeds and feeds etc. These are the necessary building blocks for success in this field.

The best illustrated CNC text on the market
This book is probably one of the best Tech texts that I have yet seen. It covers a wide range of topics and keeps the reader interested with very good photograps and 3D drawings. There are several chapters for beginners to deal with shop trigonometry, metalworking data, blueprint reading, as well as a nice overview of CNC Mill and Lathe programming.Read more

Great reference handbook
I teach power plant technology in an applied sciences college of a large urban university. One of the ongoing challenges of teaching is finding a comprehensive textbook. Although not perfect as a textbook this is a great reference for developing student's foundation in power plant technology

Great Introduction for graduate fluid flow

This book gives an excellent summary of viscous flow and is a valuable addition to any engineers bookshelf. A good knowledge of fluid mechanic fundamentals is essential to understand the material presented. This bookis definitely not for a freshman. The author quickly covers the fundamentalequations of fluid motion and then proceeds to discuss the viscous flow andboundary layer theory. Laminar boundary layers, transition, turbulentboundary layers and compressible boundary layers each receive a chapter.Each topic is reviewed and examples are given. The treatment is a littleterse, which makes reading the book a tough job. Alot of excellentreferences are given and I would advise anybody serious about viscous flowto review this material as Whites treatment can be skimpy. The chapter onturbulent flow provides an excellent summary of useful empiricalcorrelations and an introduction to the K-epsilon model.In summary, thisis an excellent and reasonably comprehensive reference book(weak onboundary layers in rotating flows), but a poor book to learn from.

One of the better Fluid Mechanics textbooks
"Viscous Fluid Flow" is quite thorough and well thought out.I won't go so far as to say that it reads like a novel, but it flows quite nicely.This book is for senior undergraduate or first-year graduates.The topics contained within are quite advanced in comparison to typical undergraduate Fluid Mechanics.The only problem I had with this text is that at times (not often) the hierarchy of the topics would get jumbled.For example, the explanation for a topic might come before the topic was even introduced leading to some confusion.Regardless, this textbook is REQUIRED for the bookshelf of any serious Fluid Dynamicist. ... Outstanding Profesional Reference
How many books do you want to buy that are $100. each? The answer is not too many and if you do buy you want something of value that will last. You do not want five books on all different aspects of the field.

An excellent introductory book - up to date and comprehensive
This is a very complete and thorough book, and covers all of the theory as well as the technology of fuel cells. It is very well organized and structured and is highly suitable for first time students as well as an excellent reference book for the experienced reader. I highly recommend this book to virtually anyone who is interested in fuel cell technology.

Best introductory book on fuel cells available
This book is an excellent introduction to fuel cells for the novice as well as a valuable reference for someone with more experience.It does not assume prior knowledge on the one hand, yet provides enough depth to be of interest for people already in the fuel cell field.When I first became interested in fuel cells, I did a survey of all the books available and this one best suited my needs by far.It is very readable and the explanations provide both quantitative scientific rigor as well as supporting, intuitive reasoning.I highly recommend this book - when you finish reading it you will have a solid foundation in fuel cell science and technology.

Provides clear, interesting overview
This book does a fabulous job of providing a clear, interesting overview of fuel cells. Without assuming any previous knowledge, the book introduces the reader to the necessary fuel cell science, including thermodynamics, charge and mass transport, and reaction kinetics. The book also introduces the five types of fuel cells (PEMFC, PAFC, AFC, MCFC, SOFC) and gives the reader a good understanding of the characteristics, advantages and disadvtanges to each one, allowing for easy comparison. As a student, this textbook seemlessly guided me through the fuel cells class and left me with a strong, deeper understanding of fuel cells (and an ability to intelligently discuss them!). Classic
If you're a mechanical engineer who deals with mechanical assemblies, you must have this book. It was used as a textbook 10 years ago in one of my college classes, and I sold it back, only to re-purchase it later to use for my job. There's really no substitute.

This is not for study...... maybe good reference
This book has a lot of tables and formulae which can be applied directly to specific engineering design problems, but I have not ever learned mechanical engineering design subject. I need comprehensible and easily viewable explanations and figures to understand the basic concepts. Information in this book looks just a sequence of data with not well-organized instruction. Hope they proof read the 7th edition!
If this book wasn't so full of valuable information, I wouldn't have given it a single star.The proof reader slept through this edition.There are more errors than I could have ever imagined.They sometimes refer to the same variable by different names in succeeding paragraphs!Many times they leave off critical subscript identifiers or don't label important values in the example figures.Small errors crop up all the way through this edition.Hope they fix the Seventh! ... I love this book!
I can't imagine my learning process of FEA without this book.It's really good and comprenhensive.It is nice to read and it provides clear explanations to difficult topics.I believe this is a must have!

Fantastic intro to FEA
This book provides a great intro to FEA in general befor eit actually starts ANSYS Tutorial. The book is strictly for beginners .It contains very less details on Batch files ,nonlinear problems etc.

Good intro, but does not go far enough
I bought this book hoping it would make my job of developing a finiteelement model using ANSYS easier. But I did not learnmuch of anything newfrom this book. I was already familiarwith finite element theory and alsotook the intro to ansyscourse offered by ANSYS. I had hoped that thisbook would gobeyond what was offered by these two sources, but sadly itdoes not. Mathematics for machine technology review
Temple College in Temple, Texas was awarded a $600K Grant to update theskills of the workers in industry. The math skills of the existing and newemployees are exceptionally low. Independent Component Analysis is a young and interesting topic that gained attention and still receiving more of it. Nice and detailed description of ICA
This is a nice and self-contained book on the subject of independent component analysis (ICA). The authors start with relevant mathematical and statistical background (in Part I) to prepare readers for the derivations of ICA (though seasoned researchers may want to skip the first part of this book). The authors discuss the motivation behind ICA and present several ways to derive ICA (since this subject has been approached by several communities). Almost the same as previous editions
This is a good technical book, but if you have any previous edition you will find that it is almost the same as the 13th edition.

Pressure Vessel Bible
This book contains valuable data from many sources.The author stays focused on steel & welded vessels which I found refreshing.

Over the top workbook
Be prepared to spend tons of time reading, answering multiple choice questions, hunting down answers in the back of this clumsy oversized book. It is too much of a pretty good thing.Needs reworking and a good editor to trim it down and make it more user friendly.It has more words in it than the book Becoming an Emotionally Focued Couple Therapist and duplicates lots that is in that book.They need to redo this and its companion as a set.Right now it is only the covers that go together.

Clarifying the EFT Interventions
For me, this book supplied the logical missing piece after finishing the EFT Externship and beginning the supervision process. The book enabled me to reinforce on my own and at my own pace the steps, stages and interventions that I learned in the group context. Using this valuable tool, I was able to slow down and clarify the parts of the model which had been unclesr to me previously. The chapter on Impasses in EFT was an especially nice bonus.
