Tolerancing for Dummies
A very well writen book I had no problem understanding the text and the examples given for creating objects was very simple I picked up on creating tolerancs very easy I would recemond this book to anyone starting out doing tolerancing

Understand Geometric Tolerancing
Was reading the new rev. of the ARINC 600 Spec. Used a co-workers copy ofof Geo-Metrics III to figure out a tolerance note I wasn't sure of. Thisbook has the clearest descriptions of Geometric tolerancing with detailshowing how to read and apply notes I have ever seen. I immediately copiedthe title pape so I could get my own copy. By the way, I am anelectro-mechanical engineer.

Probably the best available
Foster presents essentially all of the basics required for understanding GD&T.I've taken associated training courses using Geo-Metrics II and III and found the books to be excellent reference materials.However, I found the text to be rather convoluted and boring.Coupled with the excellent graphics representations, one will come to an understanding of the principles. ... Makes you remember why you became an engineer in the first place
This is a textbook for mechanical engineering design and also a reference book for practicing mechanical engineers. It is assumed that the reader has had courses in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and material science. In other words, it is assumed you are the equivalent of at least a junior undergraduate in mechanical engineering.
A broad book, but lacking in details
The book covers a broad range of problems in machine design but lacks clear explanations and citations.Often times in sample problems the author's solution skips crucial steps or fails to cite information.The section on fasteners is lacking as well.It neglects to mention counterfeit fasteners and their implications in recent years.It also does not mention AN or NAS fasteners.Too many coeficients are taken blindy from charts which are not cited.This makes the problems in the book little more than blind "plug & chug" type problems.One might expect this from a first or second edition high school book, but not a fourth edition college text.

Excellent book for college drafting course.
This is an excellent college level text.I particularly like the detailed "real world" drafting problems for the students. Also it has a very good apppendix. It is comprehensive enough that we use it in threedifferent courses here at Vincennes University.

Great Tracing Book!
I am an interior design student who LOVES this book. I had been struggling with drawing people in my renderings and this book really saved my drawings. You can be the best interior artist and have perfected drawing rooms, but if you stick an akward looking person in the center of your room....you have just completely ruined it. This book helps artists, interior designers, architects, students, teachers....everyone.
Excellent Resource
As a landscape architecture student this is a great resource for finding all types of people and trees and cars in all kinds of positions, plan view or perspective. Its an essential reference when you are looking for variation.

Not for interior design
I was expecting to see specific types of furniture in addition to trees, cars, and people. I don't see why there needs to be so many people pages. These are not very useful. Best Pro Engineer Book Available
While fairly good at describing how to use the tools available in Pro-E, the Definitions and explanations of conceptual use of these tools is lacking. I do not recommend this book for people who are trying to learn Pro Engineer on their own. Use of this book is best in an setting where an experienced user or instructor are available for assistance.
Very Bad buy, software is sheer torture
I bought this book with the intent of studying and learning. But..it wouldn't activate. After some help from PTC and resetting the URL to the right version it loaded, including the license activation. OOPS! the CDs are outdated, program shuts down. (No help whatsoever from PTC with this issue, they're clueless). Getting hold of the author, 2 new CDs are sent out immediately (But I did pay for the postage). The CDs are loaded, ProEngineer starts up, but can't download ANY of the files that the books uses for lessons because the new student version is inhibited. While the book gives good instructions, the rest is just pure incompetence. This course will teach you to really hate ProE before you even start to learn it, and frankly compared to Solidworks and Inventor Version 8, this is some seriously outdated software with weird file structures that tells me I'm running a mad mix of old software and patches to make it look "new". Just awful. I might get it working but I've been struggling with it for some 10 days now. I feel like I've been ripped off and if I don't get it working soon I want my money back from Amazon.com

High quantity, but average quality
This book covers a huge amount of topics related to the automation, organisation and control of production systems.
From a student point of view
Lacking important concepts from 1st edition that should have been in the chapters on production mathematical models. (Scrap, Time In Plant, etc.)Good descriptions of general machine automation processes.Good overview of NC, CNC machining, covering more in these chapters than some texts associated with only this topic.Good overview chapters of industrial robotics, PLC control and programming, in-plant material handling, manufacturing system schemes, assembly systems, quality control, Statisics, inspection and planning.Overall a very capable text.When coupled with a well developed laboratory, would be a text for a very complete college level Industrial Automation course.

Blueprint Reading for Welders
I amlearning to weld and fabricate and I think that this book will- No, I know this book will help to advance my career in the welding and fabrication field. OUTSTANDING. I hope A.E. Bennett and Louis J. Siy decide to write more informative books/manuals. The approach is straght foward and very helpful. You will not be confused.

Gets right to the point
VERY GOOD BOOK, it will answer ALL your questions about welding blueprints. I am an engineer who wanted to learn how to make welding drawings. I have some background in welding, but none is needed for this book. I believe welders would like the book too, (like the title states) as the first sections of the book goes over engineering drawings and explains them simply and thoroughly. Lets hope the author/s of this book write some more books on other subjects, I am so tired of books that succeed in only confusing you.Read more

Exactly what I was looking for!
I am a brand new AutoCad user and found this book to be exactly what I was looking for.This book delivers a lot of information at a steady pace but is not suited for someone who wants a crash course. You need to do the project in order to learn and this takes time, so be prepared to commit to it.

THE Book For Beginners
As the title says, No Experience Required. I tried several AutoCAD books including the"Dummies" series and it seems they all assume that the reader has some basic knowledge of AutoCAD. Frey assumes nothing and teaches by example, which to me is the best way to learn. Start with this book, learn a chapter a day, and in a couple of weeksyou'll have a good working knowledge of AutoCAD. Then you can pick up some of the other books and go from there.

AutoCAD 2004 Bible
I bought this to get refreshed in Autocad for a new job and would recommend it to anyone.I can't do without it.

Excellent & Worthwhile
A marvellous and first class, well written and referenced, extremely clear and as if having an AutoCAD instructer sitting next to you. I was a new user to this product and I feel today very comfortable to do my tasks on AutoCAD and feel that this book will be a good guide even for advanced users. Thanks to Ellen Finklestien and I laud your efforts and higly recomment the book to all.

Best book of autocad I ever read.
I have read various book of autocad, but they all seem very complicated and dificuolt to understand. I found this bible and let me tell you that is the best book I have ever seem. I recomended to a friend of mine who wants to learn autocad. This book will challenge you as a beguiner, intermedite or advance user. Who is this book for?
I am a mathematician/computer scientist quite interested in the subject matter, but the book is almost useless, since it mostly discusses ad hoc methods, and avoids proving any of the actual theorems in the subject. Unfortunate, since there is certainly room for a good book on the subject.

Not useful for me, maybe for other people
To me the book is not useful, because I need to draw graphs in which the distance between two connected vertices is fixed. The book doesn't mention any method to handle graphs with such a restriction, although the chapter on force-directed methods inspired me to use something similar. If you draw graphs without that restriction, the book might be useful to you - that's why I'm careful and give it 4 stars. Good Theory .. but
The book has a solid theoretical explanation of most of the popular graph drawing algorithms. So, if you want an explanation of these algorithms from a mathematical point of view, this book is for you.Read more

Useful yet buggy...
Fairly useful program for building logic circuits and getting a visual of timing aspects, but program seems too buggy to totally recommend.I only bought it because it was required for a class.

Excellent digital simulation software for Windows
If you have access to a Windows machine (Windows 2000/XP/NT 4.0) this is excellent software to learn digital concepts and simulate digital circuits.It's also a pretty decent schematic editor for simple circuits although I'd recommend DesignWorks Lite/Pro from Capilano Computing (capilano.com) as a better editor. LogicWorks software was originally developed on and for the Macintosh OS but version 5.0 doesn't support the Macintosh.For that there is LogicWorks 4.5 available directly from Capilano Computing ([...]) which supports MacOS 9 and X but doesn't include VHDL support.

A significant improvement in a good system - - -
I have used LogicWorks4 in a computer design class with fair results - (very good for small jobs - starts to get shaky with a thousand gates or so).
