I AM A SECOND SEMESTER ARCHITECTURAL STUDENT AT PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AND I FIND THE TUTORIALS TO BE VERY HELPFUL.EVEN THOUGH THE BOOK IS WRITTEN FOR ADT 2004, I AM USING IT WITH ADT 2005 WITHOUT ANY REAL MAJOR PROBLEMS... THERE WERE A FEW INSTANCES WHERE STEPS WERE OMITTED, BUT, LIKE ANY OTHER TUTORIAL, THE AUTHOR OBVIOUSLY WANTS THE STUDENT TO PUT THE THINKING CAP ON AND WORK OUT THE DETAILS.I RECCOMEND THIS BOOK, AND I OWN PAUL AUBIN'S BOOK TOO.

I am a Microsoft Systems Engineer, and MCDBA, I've read a lot of technical manuals and 'hands-on' are always my favorite. The concept is good'from the ground up' following standardized procedures for project creation. fuzzy issues to be mastered
If you are an engineering undergrad, this book will be fuzzier than most of your texts. It doesn't deal directly with the hard, quantitative issues like finding the load on suspension bridge, or laying out the control systems of a satellite. Instead, the book's subject is far more subjective. But no less essential. Product design is a skill you need to master, and the book tries to help you along.

Check it out
I learnt Wildfire from this book and for my needs it was a godsend. It is true that the explanations are very concise; maybe too much so. That's how they manage to cover so much material in less than 500 pages. You have to think for yourself and you don't get bored. So much better than lengthy drivel. I was able to get all the functions working; albeit with some trail and error, but no time wasted. Congratulations to the authors. Am looking forward to an advanced tutorial from the same people to cover the rest (animation, autoBOM, analisis etc). OK maybe it's not for beginners. Some previous experience with solid modeling does help; although you can just get by without.

How you can fill a book with nice illustrations and some serious looking text and not being able to learn out anything. This book just confuses and gives pro/E a bad rap. This book is a flop.

Don't buy it.
This is perhaps the worst book on programming I have ever read.I am an advanced autolisp programmer hoping to learn Visual Basic for Autocad and this book claimed to be for me.Unfortunately it wastes its ink on theory and large print than just giving a lot of useful programming examples - which is the best way to learn programming in my opinion.

We can't find no much help on this book. The Cd rom that came with the book was blank and I had to download the examples files on the internet.

AutoCAD in its 2006 version is quite formidable. Centuries of programmer time have been spent to refine this product. Thus a comprehensive description of what you can do with it would be a huge and perhaps offputting book. Omura provides an easy alternative.

GOOD AS THEY COME
Have purchased a number of Microstation texts in the past and this is absolutely as good as they come. I use Microstation daily in my presentemployment and this book leaves nothing to chance. Any person not giving it a 5 star rating does not work in the "real world". Thanks-

This book is VERY elementary. Only suitable for beginners, not for those with any experience. Lots of functions missing.

Not worth it
This books barely covers the basics of the now old V4 version. It does a just average review in a non-detailed manner of a handful of commands. It doesn't begin to cover what you'd expect in a book that costs [$$] dollars. None of the pictures are color either. My CD was cracked but the models described in the book are so basic why would you want to use it? You can teach yourself with the CD help that ships with CATIA better than use this books.
