Ok you must be smart to be taking this class, Buy this book
This is a great book for Control systems. Very small, good for the simplification of block and flow digrams!! This book will be good as a quick referance book. This is the only and best pocket book for control systems.Unfortunately this book has a very small section on translating mechanical systems into their equivalent transfer and statespace models. Pattern Recognition
Professor Theodoridis has written an exciting new book on pattern recognition. The topic is sometimes neglected, particularly in the fields of biomedical and electrical engineering, but it is essential to the understanding of signal and image shape on a mathematical basis, including similarities and differences in shape as well as how to extract, recognize, and measure the important components. Professor Theodoridis covers all of the classic steps in pattern recognition in great detail and in a readily understood fashion: sensors and pattern extraction, features extraction and selection, clustering, classification, supervised and unsupervised recognition, and evaluation of the system. Each section is backed up with computer simulation examples so that the reader can gain practical experience while reading the book. The author discusses essential concepts for computer programming of the pattern recognition techniques that are discussed. This work is necessarily mathematical, and therefore will tend to be of greatest interest to advanced students and practicing engineers in a variety of fields. Biomedical engineering is a rapidly expanding field that is key to the improvement of health care quality. There are plenty of biomedical examples including those in the section of the book on computer-aided diagnosis, such as for the detection of cancerous lesions in x-ray mammography. The section on speech recognition will be useful to engineers who are designing turnkey pattern recognition systems that include speech recognition as input and/or for use as a security key. Also included in the work are the most recently developed topics of interest including fuzzy clustering algorithms, and neural networks using genetic and annealing methods. This comprehensive work should prove to be an invaluable tool for the library of design engineers who work with signals and images. I heartily recommend it to all with a basic engineering background.

I bought this book to teach my students on the subject. I am a professor in computer engineering and PR was not my research focus. However, there are many topics covered in this book, which have become more applicable in our area of research (VLSI design). We found this book easy to use. The algorithms are clearly described and my students could implement them easily by just reading the specific chapters we need. Easy to follow
This is a text book, complete with review questions, vocab, and labs. There is also an associated lab workbook which is available from the publisher.

It has great depth, explaining everything you ever wanted to know about how your computer works, with introduction to a typical PC and its role in our lives plus laboratory activities after each chapter. What a Dandy Find!
This is an excellent book, IMO. I am not an experienced control systems engineer, so I can't say that the experienced control systems reader would (or would not for that matter) get allot out of the book, but I can say, it is a good introduction for those that have some background (e.g. An electrical engineer, out of college for several years, that took control systems at some point, and would like to learn how to implement, for example, PID controllers with Microcontrollers - that is my situation).

Autodesk Inventor from the Top
I have worked my way through about 75 percent of this book.I find it to be very helpful for learning to use Inventor from scratch.I was having no luck at all with the tutorial that came on the software CD.This book has taken me to the intermediate level. I have completed beginning and advanced Inventor classes using this book. I have held an A average with very little confusion of how to use the knowledge from this book. It covers all the most necessary topics, detailed enough for me and all of my classmates to master.

Couldn't ignore technical problems
After reading the first 20-30 pages of this book, I found myself Wow!!
...I've been an amateur photographer for 15 years, and my husband bought me a Canon Powershot A40 and this book for my birthday. I'm no stranger to photography, but I'm amazed at the effects I've already been able to achieve with Adobe Elements and the use of this book. I particularly appreciated the chapter on special effects and the one on cataloging and archiving images.

General speaking, the book is good with alot of details for control and DA process, the reason I gave it 1 star is after some time of using the book, I reached a chapter which I didnt read before, and I discovered 30 missing pages with 30 others repeated, the replacment was also defected, I think the publisher should have fixed the problem by now. ... The First Official Book in English!

Good update to a useful book.
I was pleased to see that this excellent book has been updated. It's always been one of my favorites, with just the right mixture of technical detail and useful information.

Not the Bible of Photography... but helpfull
It is pretty basic, and does have a lot of information that doesn't really apply to what the book intends to.. As the computer information, viruses and stuff like it.

Un-original and boring
This is Rehash of the first edition - same boring material regurgitated back at you. It's like taking ugly red-headed step-child and trying to dye his hair black but the roots and the freckles show through the disguise - still ugly and red-headed - like this book. This author can't take any critisism - don't worry - he'll cry like a little baby to amazon offical and this will get taken down. I try to warn you that this book won't be loved to dog ears - it sit on shelf and become dust bunny catcher because the circuits are wrongness and the most don't go well.

A Must Have for Any Robotics Junkie
Too tell you the truth - I didn't expect much from this book.I routinely come across "supposed" tutorials on how to teach beginners how to make an autonomous robot only to drown the hobbyist in technical jargon and "break the bank" advice.
Great Book for Basic-Intermediate Robotics level
Very recommended. Full of ideas and tricks. Cover all areas of Mobile Robotics. Clear about electronics, mechanics and programming.
