Littlejohn Shinder writes a fairly topical analyses of various facets of cybercrime -including several- what can only be described as Computers 101 sections but if you're a typical n00b then it will all seem like a glorious epiphany.In Ch 4 she gets a little on the didactic side where she attempts to debunk the various stereotypes and cliched mindsets associated with the hacking community but she falls far short of any real insight.

Overall, a very good book.

A useful combination of tutorial and monograph.
The authors of this book explore the state of the art in reconstruction from silhouettes.This is a task that appears easy for humans, but has proved very difficult to emulate in the computer.I found the book to bean enjoyable introduction to one of those areas of computer vision aboutwhich one ought to know, but has never really had the time to explore.Read more

good and bad
I used this book as an undergrad. Its a compendium of techniques that can hardly be covered or understood in a one semester. I didn't learn much from the class or the book. Later I read some other books (smaller) that gave better understanding and a big picture overview. So, now that I have some basics I pickup this book and it starts to make more sense. I would say this is not a good undergrad teaching book, but a good reference book for someone a little more experienced. Its too detailed for the novice but in depth for the intermediate and expert.

34 Years Ago, This Was a Book to Save
Yet, in a point of irony, somewhere, sometime, in my various consulting travels, Dorf's textbook was misplaced.
I wonder 'what is wrong with this book?' The title maybe!
Unless you aren't trying to learn Control Systems concepts this book is ideal for you to read. Otherwise, if you are interested in either learning the concepts or getting a higher GPA, this book is not what you think it is since you will find yourself losing the insight everytime you answer in terms of a matlab code and I guess you will never learn the concept this way!

bad book
As a Graduate student. I think this book is very hard to understand. I took long hours to understand some of the topics especially the space state representations. Not Bad
Less or simple examples, and focus more on control maths than practical applications. It lacks details, and strong examples. Many students had problem follwing this book. You definetly need addition book as a refrence.

Let a classmate buy it.
Do not expect to learn anything from this book. The examples have holes. It will have you flipping between 6 different places in the book when it references other pages. The instruction assumes too much prior experience. It's the most frustrating book I've ever owned to supplement the dryest class I've ever taken. ... Read more

Good Book with many mistakes
This is a great book for beginning PLC programmers, but there are numerouse errors throughout the book which cause confusion when trying to understand the use of Internal Relays, Timers and Counters. Use caution and refer back to the text when completing the tests at the end of each section and when reading about how some ladder logic is functioning, I noticed miss-labled Inputs.

Do not buy this book if youre programming STL
I did not get any benefits of this book, sadly. Very good for getting your feet wet with plc's
This is a very good introduction for those who have no personal experience with plc's. It does not focus on one brand, but introduces the reader to various manufacturers and the way each functions in comparison to eachother. It is great for understanding the capabilities of PLC's.
