5-0 out of 5 stars Never out in print fast enough
Paul Aubin has done it again.Like my title says, Paul Aubin's books never come out fast enough for me.This book is a great resource for ADT users. There have been a lot of changes since ADT first came out.The major changes started in ADT 2004 and continue on thru ADT 2007.The changes from ADT 2006 to ADT 2007 are covered very well in this book.He takes you step by step thru a residential project & a commercial project. As you go thru the book he not only shows you how you command(s) work, but also why.He also gets into the subtle changes that have come about, e.g. Visual Styles. The books is arranged in such a way that you can be productive in ADT 2007 as you go along in the book. You don't have to wait until you are completed with the book to be productive. You can also move around in the book to go over a certain part of ADT without having to work your way up to it.For example, if you are just getting thru adding windows & doors & your work project needs to add a roof, you can go to the section of the book that covers roofs & you will be able to understand how to work roofs from reading the section withour having to do the sections before. But, if you can, go thru the book in the order that it's written to get the best grasp of ADT that you can.You can truly expect your skills to rise at least one level from going thru the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy The Book
The book is very comprehensive and gives a very accurate picture of what to expect on your plumbing exam. It makes learning the code fun and you will find out what you don't know quickly. Use it in conjuction with your code book to look up areas you are weak in. If you can answer eighty percent of the questions in the "Study Guide" correctly you will probably pass your test. It's the best book of its kind. FIVE STARS. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thermal Fluid book
shipped in a very reasonable time, was in good condition, price was very fair. Great value

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for learning the FUNDAMENTALS.
I thought this was a very well written, organized book. The concepts were explained very clearly. It was great to finally find an understandable book on this subject; other thermo/fluids books that I have read haven't been as informative and comprehendable.2-0 out of 5 stars A couple of comments
I will begin with the good things. This book contains a LOT of information. The tables are very extensive, and the subject matter is very broad. The derivations are generally easy to follow and I found the text itself even enjoyable to read at times. These things upped my opinion of the book from one star to two. However, the example problems are generally not sufficient to help with the far more complex problems in the back of the chapters. As a further frustration, only about a sixth of the problems include the solutions. The end result is that for a homework one is left leafing through the book in a futile search for more extensive guidance on the very extensive problems, all the while not knowing if you didn't mess up the problem already in the first calculation you made. For example, I have this textbook for my second course in fluid dynamics. For my first homework, I had a three day weekend to complete 3 problems. 30+ work hours later (and one shot weekend) I have no idea if I'm right on the first one and I'm still stuck on the last one. I dislike having to go to reciation, so it's not unusual for me to spend lots of time on problems and reading the book in order to figure out the homeworks on my own. But this book is quite frankly kicking my arse. Considering that this is my second fluids course (I'm an aerospace eng student) you would think I would be better at fluids. However, my first fluids textbook was also a Cengel book, and that book was next to useless as well. My overall conclusion: A great book for reading and catching derivations with lots of good tables and a wide array of topics. But it's a huge frustration waiting to happen if you plan on working the problems/preparing for an exam. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this book
I think its very useful handbook. A must have for all fresh graduates.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hardcover-CD?
IT seems this book is a CD for use of a Wireless Area Network (WAN), so how can it possibly be hardcover? And why is is three times more expensive than the normal edition, but still looks like it is the same 10th edition material on CD ONLY?
2-0 out of 5 stars Overrated
"Mark's Handbook" is one of those books you hear other students in college talk about like it's a must have that you'll use for the rest of your life. But it's not. I bought this book, and six years out of college I barely ever crack it open. It's packed with information, but it's so general that you can't get any real-world specific information out of it. It's like a restaurant reviewer who can tell you that "New York has some great Italian restaurants" but doesn't give you the name of any of them. You're much better off skipping this book and buying one that's more specific to your particular field. As an example, the mechanical engineer is much better off with Shigley's "Mechanical Engineering Design". ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting...
This book arrived in good condition from the sender and before time. The book inself is very interesting and will serve its purpose.

4-0 out of 5 stars HUMAN FACTORS
I AM A BIG FAN OF THE AUTHOR, AND HAVE USED HIS WORKS IN THE PRACTICE OF MY WORK MANY TIMES, THE BOOK, IS GOOD WITH MANY PRACTICAL EXAMPLES, BUT SADLY DOES NOT SEEM TO TELL ME ANYMORE THAN I ALREADY KNEW. ....I WAS HOPING FOR MORE.
3-0 out of 5 stars great reference - cd is pretty worthless
this book is a great reference for those who deal in any way with the human form. i, for example, am a 3d character animator andthis book is perfect for nailing correct human proportions and visualizing range of motion. however, the accompanying cd is basically an advertisement for ErgoForms, the autocad version of the drawings in the book. only the 1% man drawing (the smallest average male figure)is included on the cd, which is pretty useless for what i need. if the book weren't so expensive i'd give it a four star rating. i thought i was getting more on the cd to warrant the price. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Acceptable but Annoying
This text is a fairly standard treatment of classical (macroscopic) thermodynamics. It is targeted specifically at students of mechanical engineering. Anyone going into some other engineering discipline that depends on thermo (e.g., chem eng) -- or into one of the hard sciences (physics, biophys, biochem, chemistry, etc.) -- will get very little value from this book. Its main focus seems to be on the use of the right formula to solve specific kinds of problems. ("Plug and chug.") 3-0 out of 5 stars so far
So far this book is pretty good, but it needs more examples and a short study guide with conversion problems would be helpful. Some of the homework problems really take some time and creative unit changes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cengel's 5th edition 2006 surpasses Moran/Shapiro. Definitely, no doubt!
Professor Cengel never ceases to update his series of premium McGraw-Hill Higher Education mechanical engineering textbooks. His flagship, the thermodynamics text - not yet a classic but already a standard and a universum's bestseller for the past 15 years - has become even more modernized and tightly integrated with nowadays media: electronic media (packaged with a free DVD-ROM instead of the CD-ROM), software, and online companion resources. Total professionalism throughout the entire package, a true aeuvre: hats off with regard to the accomplishment on both author's, editor's and publisher's part!

5-0 out of 5 stars An all time classic
From the masters of the finite element method, this may well be the best book ever written on the subject. In this book, the authors come across as the sages of ancient India preaching what they know is the best, guiding us, and setting a stage of research for the years to come. This is a monumental piece of work in the history of engineering.

5-0 out of 5 stars The milestone in FE analysis
This book is really THE milestone, the only one I really enjoy. A page-turner, a must for all people into FE stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for starters in the field
This is the ideal book for beginners in finite elements, though the approach is slightly more theoretical. If you have a good background in linear algebra and are comfortable with matrices etc, you should have notrouble finishing this one. You can aim at the definitive work by ProfessorBathe after finishing this one. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT....
ITS GOOD BUTIT JUMP TO MUCH STEPS. I RECOMMEND "THERMODYNAMICS AN ENGINEERING APPROACH" FORM CENGEL AND BOLES. ITS MORE FRIENDLY USER. I HAVE BOTH

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent but Too Much
This is an excellent text book as well as reference book for thermodynamics. If an undergraduate purchases it there will be many sections that will not be needed in the undergraduate course. If the authors could have produced a smaller volume directed to undergraduates only, that would be useful and more affordable. On the other hand, students who go on for graduate studies in thermal areas will find it useful at that stage too.
5-0 out of 5 stars Almost good enough on its own
I found this book an excellent aid to learning. The problems are difficult, but not so difficult as to discourage working them through. The instructor is key to any course, but this book definitely enhanced the learning experience from this class. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Application beyond just electronics
The author is obviously an engineer who understands the everyday practical problems a dynamicist faces. Some theory, but chock full of easy to understand, and more importantly, *useful* information necessary to putproperly designed product out the door.4-0 out of 5 stars A tool for success
If a mechanical engineer has chosen a career in the world of electronics, I strongly recommend this easy to follow gold mine of a book. I say it is a gold mine because it applies directly to the engineers' job. There are nofluff chapters or topics. Everything applies. Steinberg has made it easy(and almost fun) to solve those every day shock, vibration and acousticchallenges. Finding the natural frequency of a body such as a PC board isso much simpler for me now. And asurprising tidbit was for me to discoversome amazing facts concerning acoustics. This is especially important asapplied to fan cooled electronic packages. Another important area of studywas packaging for transportation. How many times have we simply said"Just pack it in foam"? Before reading this book,I couldn't besure what foam density to use or what the optimum thickness was. Why guess?Do it right.3-0 out of 5 stars Not comprehansive enough to general public

5-0 out of 5 stars A total necessity
To succeed in a fast-paced introductory phyics class, one must work as many problems as one can. If you're in such a class, then for your grade's sake, I recommend that you buy a copy of this book for it contains a clear review of the theory, followed immediately by MANY, MANY example problems with detailed solutions. WARNING: You have to catch a few typos here and there. Finally, as always, try to work the problems before peeking in the answers.
4-0 out of 5 stars Buy this book as a supplement to your textbook
Other than a few typos, this book is awesome. I learn the basic concepts from this book, and then do the problems in my textbook. This book has helped me when my professor couldn't/wouldn't. You cannot learn physics from this book only, but it is an excellent addition to any textbook.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for learning GD&T
This book is an excellent substitute or supplement to a course in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing.GD&T was not taught at the college I attended and this book helped me quickly get up to speed.Within days of using this I was creating proper drawings that accuratly communicated my company's requirements for cast parts. However, the book is probably better suited as a learning tool than it is a reference as it often took some time to look up and find the answer for specific questions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for understanding Geometrical Tolerances

1-0 out of 5 stars An annoying verbiage
I was interesting in buying a professional publication relative to piping engineering and, by chance, I was able to borrow this book from a technical library before doing what can not be undone.2-0 out of 5 stars poor book
I Buy this book because needed references, general conditions and good practice to solve practical problems of pipes. However I meet with a tangled book, of little clarity and that in general it doesn't embrace the practical topics well referring a lot to the existent norms. Anyway it serves like support to the different norms to go developing a project but alone as reference and in any case like a book of easy access to solve problems on site or the day to day problems. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very good introduction
I had never used matlab when I started reading this book and I found it very easy to follow.I now have a good working understanding of the matlab basics and I recommend that anyone who's looking to get started with matlab pick up a copy.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect introductory text for MATLAB
If you are completely new to MATLAB then you will find no better book to guide you through the basics. It is perfectly suited for teaching yourself several basic but still very interesting and useful programming techniques.Topics are presented to the reader in an order carefully determined to produce maximum benefit and knowledge. The book is short and very readable, with many example programs.
5-0 out of 5 stars A truly excellent text!
This book was written for teaching Matlab to freshmen in an introductory engineering course, so most of the examples are from first year physics and engineering.Nevertheless, after looking at all competing texts, I chose it to teach Matlab to sophomore geology majors, most of whom had not yet taken calculus or physics.I was very happy with the results; by the end of the semester the students were well on their way to being competent programmers, and I think they will find calculus and physics much easier because of their experience with this book.

This book is quite readable, considering the topic, and does an excellent job of explaining the high level strategies of Dr. Taguchi's approach to optimization and experimentation. It also covers tactical issues like how to determine your ideal function and noise strategies.4-0 out of 5 stars How to learn Robust Design
I like this book because it gives a very good introduction into the concepts of noise- and control-factors. It treats the concept of "energy transformation" good, which is important to find the appropriate Ideal Function for your product.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good for me
I am the matematican and I had to start learning C.M. from this book. And I didn't like it. First chapter is some very simplified approach to linear elasticity, but it doesn't developed any intuition and reading it was waste of time. Stretch tensor was introduced with avoided notion of polar decomposition. This presentation was far less intuitive for me. The linear algerbra behind primal stresses is described and computed in details, but nowadays the student involved in computer methods and engineering must know this things in my opinion. And the language is not instuitive: me, matematican, couldn't do most of exercises after reading chapter they relate to. It tasted like old-fashioned book.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a great reference book

5-0 out of 5 stars Machinery's Handbook (Large Print)
Delivery was fast and arrive in A1 condition. As a design engineer this book is invaluable in day to day operations. Being a bit older the large print is a plus for me. I have older editions of the Machinery's Handbook but periodically it pays to update to the current book. It was also the best price I had seen on the net.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
A resource book that has and will continue to be the industry standard...nice to have free shipping as well!

5-0 out of 5 stars Caution, Maestro at Work
Ray Kurzweil is utterly relentless, merciless, and authoritative as he hammers home his vision of the future. He doesn't just make this stuff up, but opens his book with about fifty graphs depicting the exponential trends in current technology.Graphs depict the increase in computer power, its reduction in cost, the nanotechnological patents applied for, the size of chips, and so on. Dr. Kurzweil doesn't so much indicate trends, as prove that they are inevitable.
5-0 out of 5 stars Theoretical Science Masterpiece
Kurzwell's vision isn't perfect. But part of the point of this book is that no one single person will comprise the evolutionary singularity, it will take every single part of humanity to plug into our world for that to happen. He's doing a relatively noble thing, standing on the edge of reality, and sending out a jolting vision of the future that is one of a kind. There's no need to worship Kurzwell, it's simply that people ought to pay attention to this theoretical science masterpiece and heed it's alarming beautiful call to arms against pessimism and backward oriented thought.Awesome. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great but not perfect
This book is great, it includes lots of information, many examples and real case studies that show you how these concepts can be applied. There is a ton of information in this book and defiantly a great source to have for reference.I did get a CD in mine, and seems to work just fine.
4-0 out of 5 stars No CD ROM and Nowhere to be Found on Net
Book is worth the price. However, there in NO CD ROM included with the book, and the directions given at the front of the book regarding where to download the software is incorrect.Neither the author's nor the publisher's websites offer the software for anyone except professors adopting the book.
5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK
