Well Thought Out Upgrade from Previous Editions
I have three editions of this book: the classic 4th edition, the useless 5th edition and this, the 7th edition.
Excellent resource
Roark's has been and remains an excellent resource for the structural engineer and designer regardless of the edition.This is a referance I use on a daily basis.Typically the first book I reach for.

Excellent insight for Seamstress
I had been searching through all of the sewing books I could find to learn more about the nature of fabric and fibers...and everything I could possibly want to know was here, and more. Absolutely fascinating. It is a textbook, but was written clearly enough that anyone with an interest in the area can easily understand it. I've been teaching classes to costumers and members of the local American Sewing Guild, who are equally impressed with the knowledge we got from this book.

Good reference book
I find this book to be a very handy reference.Sometimes the equations get very involved, but I do like the way the material is presented.The font is kinda wierd (newest edition), but thats just a subjective thing for me. I also like the design section in the back, and the depth of information on design considerations is neat.Including this book, Swanson's analysis book is another good addition for joggling your memory on composite analysis that you took in grad school. :)

Not half bad
When I took a composite materials course as a senior at NCSU, the teacher didn't.In a fit of desperation, I went to the bookstore and looked at all (3) composite books.This one used the same symbology as my prof's lecture notes, so I bought it, despite the price. composites-trends

Must read for polymer chemistry!
Odian offers a comprehensive guide to polymer chemistry, covering nearly all the types of polymerization, exploring radical, ionic, step, and copolymerization mechanisms and kinetics in sufficient detail. Some recent advances in polymer synthesis are not covered, but book offers enough knowledge to have a good grasp of all aspects of polymerizations. A must read for anyone considering a career or education in polymer synthesis!

Great text book!
I took a course last year in Polymer Chemistry and this text was the standard text book. It was an amazingly great reference book. This book mainly target on Polymerization synthesis and characterization. If you are interested in the mechanical properties of polymer, you should look for other one. But this is a must for all polymer chemists and material scientists who are interested in polymer processing.

A handy reference
I have been using this book for several years, including a term where it was the primary text for a graduate-level Introduction to Polymers course.As textbooks go, I have found this one relatively easy to read, and the concepts easy to follow.It it quite comprehensive, but assumes an undergraduate background in organic and physical chemistry.Since the course, it has been a handy reference in my research, though, as someone else noted, it is lacking in respect to living polymerizations, particularly Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization.However, Odian's work remains one of the most useful textbooks from my graduate classes. ... Best of breed
My first acquaintance with Mr. Long's work was his article "Logistics of Famine" which I found unique for its down-to-earth treatment of a topic rarely recognized as important at the time it was written, delivered in his now-familiar user-friendly style. The man knows and loves his subject, and the care he has taken with this book to clearly explain and illustrate the many aspects of global supply chain management shows that.

Great Textbook !
This book is one of the best textbooks I have ever read. All concepts are very well explained. Unlike other textbooks, "International Logistics" provides so many examples that the material becomes easy to understand. The writer's extensive world traveling is portayed in most of the chapters.I highly recommend it to anybody who is interested in the field.

Best Reference Book Ever for Polymer Science
This book is organized in such a clear fashion that you will find virtually any fundamental polymer property, its origin and related theories in it.Most importantly, this book collects so many property tables that you will be amazed by how useful it is in your research. Never miss this handbook!!
I am working in Polymer relative field, and I need to know variousproperties of dozens of polymers. I am not a computer, so I could known allof them. Sometime I want to find a handbook for polymer properties, butmost of handbook only summerizes some common polymers. Thus, I can't findthe information through th handbook, but this book gives more than onehundres types of polymers with broad fields such as thermodynamic,mechanical, electrical, etc.. Fantastic Book
If you want to learn about the title subject, this is a great intro book. And it's probably the most enjoyable theory book you are likely to own, if you purchase it.

Forces you know or not????

~~~Engineering and Science are different on the point that people are trying to understand the phenomena with little knowledge of the physical background. Especially recently the interdisciplinary stuff are more and more challenging, so that's why engineers must have solid background on science. From my own experience, I do not need to take care the thermodyamics, kinetics in my former major, solidmechanics. Well, it's hard to survive if you only have knowledge on structures of a bridge~~ or a composite plate (this is just my own view, please forgive my ignorance). Nano- and Meso- scale materials are related to some mechanical problems. So I got this book to start my research on this. It is useful not only to experts but also to the outdoors like me.~~~ ...
