Instructors edition is a waste of money
THe instructors edition is not even a book. It is some sort of supplement to the actual text....completely useless...save your money.

A Little Bit Technical
Being a weldor as a hobby, I found this book to be more in depth than I initially anticipated. It was great to find out how my machine works and learn what has caused some of my past failures.I think this book is great for metalurgical references for my applications.Being a hobbiest I didn't really need to know about the industrial aspects or how to read specs.But I guess even unused information isn't bad to have.Its hard to acquire this knowledge on the side. ... The Photos alone are worth the money.
I decided to buy this book basing on the pictures of the knives inside.Once received, the pictures are worth more than the price I have paid for. Details with each knife is the extra bonus to the owner. Very good especially for custom knife collectors, and myself as a trader on ebay's -unclevit- listing store. Must read for population balances
The book provides an excellent training of a tool of population balance modelling and its application. The tool has been introduced in a neat and clean manner exploiting the elegance of sound mathematical analysis and engineering applications. The Torah, Bible, and Quoran all in one for metal heads!
The best book there is regarding patination of metals.

Great Book
This book is truely the "bible" on patinas.There must be at least 1000 recipes for coloring metal.

Encyclopeadic?Yes.Very useful?Kinda.
This book is encyclopeadic--there are at least a thousand recipes.But only about 1 in 4 has a color picture to show the results.I'm sorry, but color pictures are a must. The word descriptions simply don't suffice, especially when one is looking for a very partcular look.

Standard Reference Work
This book is part of a series of books that has been coming out now for many years. They consist of an article section, a trends in cutlery section (with lots of artfully done photos, and a directory section of the cutlery collectible trade and custom makers, etc. I have the whole run and look at them now and again for reference.

Knives 2001 Goes Hollywood
Well,not really but I was disappointed with the advertising inserts in this year's issue.It detracts from the overall usefulness of the book.The Knives series are reference manuals in my opinion and the semigloss Junglee insert and the "Marketplace" advertisement was a bore.Read more

Very good book
Great book for beginners. This book is essential material if you want to go in this field and learn about Die Design. I would definitely recommend it as a starter. Very good indeed!

I highly recommend this book to anyone planning to go into die design.It is extremely thorough and up to date.More importantly, it not only explains how a die works but it also helps in the designing process.Ittakes you through a step by step process and each chapter is dedicated to apart of the die i.e., the punch, the die, the stripper plate, pilots, typesof die processes, die buttons, front and back rails, etc. For those alreadyin the field, it helps to have this book handy.
