5-0 out of 5 stars For factory and professional colleges
Very good as entry-level textbook! Not for the die hard spectrum annalist though... It should be considered essential for crash courses in vibrations and spectrum analysis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Execellent Practical Virbation Manual
This is an excellent book for people faced with practical vibration problems. The book is a well-written to this topic. Focus is on rotatingmachinery, and data acquistion, filtering, etc. This is the best 1st book on vibration diagnosing I've found yet. A definite recommend to buy

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst vibration spectrum analysis book
I borrow this book from Uni, of Washington and found out that this book is lack of both practical and theoritical inf. The writing of the book is so poor and minimum examples of real data that I stopped short of completing the book. Worst for your money. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Forget the CD Rom, buy the book
The book is great. The CD-Rom is an exercise in frustration. That you can only install it on a single computer is the first frustration. Then I tried to print a section for use in the shop. The pages that came out on the printer were not the pages that I requested (error between displayed and actual page numbers?).When I tried to print again, it said I had exceeded the printing limit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for School and Work....
I have been out of school now for 5+ years...I had to share only 3 Machinery's Handbooks with my class of 30 at LTI... Then when I got out on the job market, I found that most places will not supply you with one, and you almost always need one in the engineering feald, weather it is Mechanical or Arch... (I have worked with both!).So this November (2003), I saved up for one, since I am always borrowing one at work from coworkers...So now I have the newest one in our office at Firestone Industrial Products Co.. Makes me feel good that I have the most up to date one...And now everone is barrowing from me!5-0 out of 5 stars Plan Ahead
Everything mentioned in previous reviews is true. I would only add or suggest to buy the large print edition. You will likely keep this book a long long time and technical data, formulas, tables, etc. will not change, but your vision might. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A good start, but it won't get you a PhD
Miller and Solomon have prepared a good refresher for writing organic mechanism.I might suggest this book for a student learning organic chemistry, or someone who is returning to the field. However, for preparation towards qualifying or cumulative exams, this review will leave you short.

5-0 out of 5 stars A big step towards the understanding of organic chemistry
This book is made for those who think that Organic Chemistry is just a succession of empirical reactions. If you have problems memorizing your Organic course this book should help a lot. All along the text you will learn how to derive a plausible mechanism for a given reaction. Miller dida great job in demonstrating that there is logic in Organic Chemistry. Moreover the book provides solid tools for those who plan to move towardsmore advanced concepts. This second edition displays a much improvedpresentation. A must, affordable, simple and efficient. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Super resource!
This book is a very useful resource if you deal in sterling silver flatware as it provides actual photographs, not drawings of the handles of each patter. The other benefit this book provides is that you can identify the pieces based on size -- and accurately call a piece by the proper name. Each pattern has a list of many available pieces and their value.I use this book alot and bought one for by business partner -- anyone who deals in sterling flatware should have a copy!

3-0 out of 5 stars good for a beginning
easy to follow and while this does not have hallmarks or much history, does carry clear pictures of standard patterns and makers.Good for a start and considering how little is out there, not bad.

1-0 out of 5 stars Even More Disappointed...
I wish I had read the above review before I spent my money on this book. I think if someone is going to sell an identification "guide" for a specific category of goods and they are only going to cover a representative selection of that category, they should at least be honest about it on the cover. The cover of this one should say "If you only need a few photos from each manufacturer and you don't need makers' marks to help you IDENTIFY your silver, then this book is for you!!!" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to welding...
With the purchase of a brand new Miller GMAW welding machine (wirefeed electrode), my boss entered us into the world of welding. Even though a 30 minute tutorial at the welding supplier was enough to get us started, I bought this book at a local retailer as a reference.
5-0 out of 5 stars dynamite book!
This book is appropriate for beginners to experts. The book is written clearly and concisely. The examples and projects are top notch. Recommended to anyone who wants to know or wants to review any subject in welding and brazing.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
This is a dry, but very comprehensive, book on basic welding practices. I suspect it was written for college level welding classes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great instruction manual
This book is great for anyone interested in makeing small blades. It gives a complete run down of all the required gear you will need, how to set up a workshop, where to source your materials from, how to make a forge and most importantly of all, how to actually make a blade out of a lump of steel.Very interesting, even if you have no intention of actually making knives.

4-0 out of 5 stars Written by a guy who knows
The author of this book is an accomplished bladesmith and well respected among his peers. He makes knives professionally and has a web site out there somewhere showing his product. Prices aren't shown, but I think they are pretty high. This book is a good contribution to the field of metalworking.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best
While you can't learn any craft this complicated solely from a book, this one comes pretty close. It's an impressive primer on the field covering everything from laying out your shop to tools/equipment, steels/alloys, grip materials, leatherwork, construction, heat-treating, grinding, sharpening, and tempering. It even covers Japanese heat-treating and polishing techniques and how to forge several patterns of Damascus steel. There are great charts/illustrations too. The author not only knows his craft but he is able to communicate this knowledge clearly and effectively to his readers. His writing is pleasant and easy to follow.

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
I will be returning this book.I should have read the reviews before buying because one reviewer described what I just discovered with the arrival of "Knives and Razors."It is a huge, detailed encyclopedia of Case (307 pages), with a bone-thrown to Queen/Shatt & Morgan (84 pages), and Remington (86 pages). It is advertised as an all-encompassing guide to American knives. It is not, although Case collectors will love its focus/detail.
5-0 out of 5 stars As far as current guides to knives go this is a great one.
Jim Sargent's book, American Premium Guide to knives and razors is not a let down if you are into Case or Queen knives. If you have bought other guides and been disappointed by how many advertisements were in it you will be very happy with this book because there are none.
