The Perfect Reference
I am a plant metallurgist for a company and I constantly use this book to look at properties for various materials.The book is relatively small (unlike ASM books) and contains loads of hard to find information.

Great book that I take every were I Go. One that no welder should be with out.

Good, handy reference
I always have this book near me at work.It's an excellent reference, particularly if you're in your first few years in the trade. Completely New Second Edition is GREAT!
I've been waiting for a revision of this Audel book for almost 10 years, and it's finally here! I always have a devil of a time finding any useful books about my trade-pipe fitting. The only thing I ever found was the old edition of this book, I guess that reviewer who wrote that review dated 2000 was talking about the old edition because the new one just came out-in late 2003. Black Powder Compendium
The author (S. Fadala) is a recognized expert in the area of black powder shooting sports. The manual is well planned, referenced and provides a progressive experience in the use and feeding of black powder firearms. All areas of loading and shooting are represented in the manual. However, as might be expected, emphasis is placed on the rifle and pistol loads. Unfortunately, this does not carry over to the muzzle loading shotgun(s). This is an area that requires further work and shooters in this discipline might feel slighted.

Verbose and poorly written
We used this book for our materials science class, and while it contained a lot of information the information was very poorly presented.The text would often refer to figures and tables nowhere in the vincinity, and it was written in such a way that it was extremely difficult to follow.They didn't emphasize the important parts, so it was unclear what we should've known.
