A Factual Book About a Much Hyped Product
Dr. Gibbs, one of the world's premier specialists on colloidal chemistry, has done careful, scientific study on silver, found some significant benefits, tested the efficacy of its anti-bacterial action, found that some products perform better than others, and found no miracle cures. This hard-headed, no-nonsense approach will stand the test of time, whereas those hyping silver as an effortless cure to everything from aging to cancer will (hopefully) be found out. A sad commentary on our mutual human condition is that Dr. Gibbs will return to his laboratory to beg for grant money, while the patent medicine people will retire to their private islands with their misbegotten millions.

It is refreshing to have a book that rubs others the wrong way. I like people who can think outside the lines of standard protocol. I am glad this book took the time and energy to investigate and report on some options for treating health issues! This book has given multi-million dollar pharmaceutical companies (and people who get $'s for promoting them) a reason to hate this book. Because the truth is...if you investigate the quack watchers and other such types...you'll discover they have an agenda and close ties to the opposing view.

Great News if You Have a Diseased Petrie Dish!
Gibbs' monograph is a novel contribution to the swelling "Barnum-Bunkum" literature of colloidal silver products. UnlikeFarber, Gibbs does not claim that he was personally deputized by Yahweh tobring this "healing news" to the world. And, unlike the majorityof vo-tech drop-outs and assorted hoodoos who quibble about the nuances ofcoloration, particle size, voltage levels and AC vs. DC power supplies,Gibbs' credentials suggest that he would actually recognize a true colloidif he saw one, and be able to differentiate it from the other varieties ofchemical suspension/solution. ONE OF THE BEST MANUFACTURING BOOKS OUT THERE
I had the great fortune of taking a course with Dr. Altintas at the University of British Columbia and I have to say that he is very thorough in his teaching methodology.

If you are a machinest or a production engineer who keeps asking the question "WHY" then this is the book for you.This book gives you a good engineering back ground into the understanding of machining and the back ground to start building your own CNC machining center. A must have for any production engineer.

An essential aid for the serious production engineer
Due to my job I am forced to read a lot of technical literature. I never got as much technical up-to-date information explained in such an intelligible way. Compared to other books dealing with manufacturing processes (which are mostly written by scientists in a very, very scientific way), in this book you've got the impression that the author virtually tells you the modern fundamentals of manufacturing. This makes this book easily understandable. Nowadays, High Speed Machining is well established in manufacturing. The future will bring High Performance Machining which means that the metal removal rates are significantly higher at high cutting speeds. As far as High Performance Cutting is concerned, this book covers also the theories of the dynamic behaviour of the cutting process. Therefore, chatter is of great importance. The author explains the two present "Chatter Theories" in detail and enables the reader to perform his own calculations on process stability.I strongly recommend this book to all engineers and students of mechanical engineering who want to know the latest scientific results explained in a comprehensible way. Slow Read
Extremely well-researched, and virtually unreadable.This book is a never ending stream of figures on steel tonnages and plant openings/closings.
