5-0 out of 5 stars Best Reference Book Ever for Polymer Science
This book is organized in such a clear fashion that you will find virtually any fundamental polymer property, its origin and related theories in it.Most importantly, this book collects so many property tables that you will be amazed by how useful it is in your research. It is no doubt one of the most cited refrence in publications.A wonderful reference book for graduate students.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never miss this handbook!!
I am working in Polymer relative field, and I need to know variousproperties of dozens of polymers. I am not a computer, so I could known allof them. Sometime I want to find a handbook for polymer properties, butmost of handbook only summerizes some common polymers. Thus, I can't findthe information through th handbook, but this book gives more than onehundres types of polymers with broad fields such as thermodynamic, mechanical, electrical, etc.. If you are a person who work in the polymerrelative fields, it is definately a handbook you need to have. Trust me,you can make it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Old fashioned fortran, strong bias on Monte Carlo
There is a very strong bias to MC methods in the book. What they have to say about Molecular Dynamics methods is not really new, most of it is virtually copied from the classic by Allan/Tildesley, and many MD techniques which they consider "advanced" (such as cell list methods, verlet tables, etc.) are shifted to one of the many appendices. They do not talk about ghostparticles for instance or give a detailed account of parallelized algorithms which is really state-of-the art today.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent text for beginners in simulation
Its an excellent book for those who are just beginners in MC & MD simulations. everything is very clearly explained with lot of examples and some related unsolved problems. the text explores this topic indetails with advanced chapters in later sections. Good for anybody int hsi field be it in materials science, physics or related fields.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for New Grad Students

4-0 out of 5 stars Great history with medium depth on the cigar review
I really appreciated this book for the photography and the explanation of the manufacturing process. Del Todesco does a great job of walking the reader through the myriad processes of creating a puro. The only thing about this book that left me a little disappointed was the review of cigars in the back. It seems a little difficult to review a cigar in one sentence, especially cigars that are as complex as a Montecristo #2 or a Hoyo de Monterrey...but time and again, he sums up an otherwise world famous cigar as "suitable for a beginner" or "mild, not much to recommend about this cigar". It just struck me as odd to have a compilation as deep as what is presented in this book and then give the cigars an extremely indifferent and passing glance en masse. The first 130 pages were interesting no matter what level of aficianado you are...the encyclopedia could use a good second edition enhancement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great work. One of the "must haves."
I agree with Van55. (What else is new?!) This is a fantastic book. I bought my copy used through Amazon over a year ago, and I am still making reference to it. If you are a fan of quality Cuban cigars, you need this volume along with Min Ron Nee's work.In contrast to Min Ron Nee's book, this one has much more on the history and production of the cigars. The photos, many full page, are colorful and moving.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent historical reference
I found this book at Amazon while searching for the second printing of "An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Post-Revolution Havana Cigars" by Min Ron Nee, that I understand is soon to be released for sale within the United States.

5-0 out of 5 stars Materials Control Design
Architecture is an interesting mix of enginnering and art. All too often one of these is emphasized too much at the expense of the other. If too much art is emphasized, it is easy to design structures that cannot be built with the materials being specified.
5-0 out of 5 stars Design magicians reveal their material tricks
If you've seen beautiful design and wanted to know how it was actually made, this is the book to show you. The case studies are the best of recent work and each has clear concepts, many color shots and ALSO clear construction drawings and details which are impossible to find. Some books only tease with images but not explanations, and technical manuals miss the beauty of design altogether. This book brings the two together.I don't know why this approach was not taken before, but it's what I've been looking for. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Essential text
This is an essential text for engineers, scientists, and graduate students working in the semiconductor field. It contains a thorough review of all major electrical, optical, and physical characterization methods that are commonly used.Descriptions of techniques are generally conceptually oriented, clearly stated, and do not rely excessively on equations. In addition, many useful figures are included to help explain concepts when introduced.Up to date references are included for essentially every technique mentioned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference
Schroder has compiled an extensive and very nearly complete guide to modern characterization techniques that apply mostly to semiconductors and solid state devices, but also to techniques used in general materials analysis. We used this text in a graduate level course in EE and found it easy to read through and concise for use as a quick reference.Well worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Introductory Book on Welding
I found this to be the best introductory book on welding that I have seen.Quite of few books give you spotty pieces of information and tell you to "go do it."Others are pricy text books designed for a full school course on welding. This is a straight comprehensive introduction to welding. It starts you off with safety, materials needed to start work and the advantages and disadvantages of each major type of welding.Richard Finch has a smooth writing style and includes good suggestions and advice, including common amature mistakes to avoid.I would have given it 5 stars, but it was last revised in 1997 and some information about equipment is getting dated. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to nanotechnology
I started reading this book trying to get a good initial grip on the notions and progress made in nanotechnology. This book helped me exactly as I wanted. Very clearly written it takes you through a wide range of topics and in the end one manages to form a pretty good idea about development in one area or another of this very multiform field and, more importantly, gives a sense of where to go and what to expect from a certain branch.
1-0 out of 5 stars Presents abridged versions of other reviews
This book merely presents abridged versions of other reviews on nanotechnology. For example, the chapter on self-assembly misses most if not all if the initial discoveries and describes second and third generation reports that merely duplicate the concepts with new chemical building blocks. If one reads the reviews cited at the end of the chapters one will get a better view of the respective topics. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Give us a sixth edition, please.
Despite the fact that this book was published in 1998 and is based on the 1994 UBC, it is still the best book on masonry design out there for the practicing engineer. As another reviewer notes, it's useless as far as the actual design is ccncerned and it does assume you know a good bit about what you are doing already, but I am at a lost to find a better book for my newbies.

1-0 out of 5 stars Reinforced Masonry Engineering Handbook
The fatal problem is this book is NOT current to the 97 Uniform Building Code, contrary to the advertised description. It is written for the 94 Code. Therefore, it is useless and dangerous for actual design and permit. This book gives a pretty good tutorial, but asumes the reader to be an engineer already and skips key explanations of the process, showing numbers in formulas without referencing where they came from, what they mean, or what units they are measured in. Too cryptic. The reference data is scattered throughout the book, and often doesn't have a cross-reference, so it took me over an hour to read each page of problem, due to hunt-and-peck for clues. The design examples are fairly good but hard to follow, and the problem questions don't have answers or process to check your work. The subject is so complex that it would be scary to formulate a real life problem. The author left out the seismic factors on foundation design, so the answers are very wrong in earthquake areas. The 97 Code changed greatly from the 94Code, so you will be struggling to learn erroneous information.

This is the only book that contains everything one needs to know about sub sonic wind tunnel.
