The classic MRP text.
Without question this is the classic MRP text. Originally written in 1975, this 1994 updated version covers the basic logic and setup of MRP. Though most production and inventory management books cover MRP, they tend to cover it so quickly that if you didn't already understand MRP, you probably still won't after reading them. Orlicky's Material Requirements Planning moves more slowly and provides much more detail. It's also written in an easy to understand style that makes it great for beginners. A must read for anyone interested in MRP
Everybody interested in MRP has seen Orlicky�s book as a reference work. This book compliles it�s work plus all the developments of this technique since its issue in the fifties. The beauty of this work is that it gathersall the pitfalls, successes and fails encountered by the "MRPcrusades". It also contends about the realationship between MRP andJIT and it�s possible combination.

An excellent introduction to MRP.
I am the system administator at my company.Out of frustration at many problems we have been having with the MRP module of our integrated system, I looked for a good source of knowledge about how MRP *should* work.InOrlicky's MRP I found that source. Orlicky's MRP is probably one of thebest written books on the subject that I've seen.I had no trouble at allunderstanding the complex concepts that were presented, despite my lack ofMRP knowledge and experience.Indeed, during the time that I read thebook, I discovered that there were several things we were doing wrongbecause we didn't have a good understanding about the way MRP should work.For example, for a long time we had been laboring under the fallacy that areleased work order should increase allocations not only for the primarycomponents of a parent but also for the components of those components! Orlicky's MRP set me straight, stating that mistaking the Planning phase ofMRP for the Execution phase (or vice-versa) was a common problem.I willnever have that problem again thanks to this book. Another thing I learnedfrom this book was how the bill of material, MRP, and backflushing wereinterrelated. Disorganized technical reading...
Although this book has accurate technical content, the organization is ill-thought and amounts to little more than numerous papers stapled together under a pretty cover.

PVD from A to Z
If you are new to PVD as I am, you will find this book to be well worth the money.If the book doesn't give you enough details on what you are interested in, it will give you a ton of references to get you in the right direction.As a graduate student working on different PVD techniques including RF Sputtering, Thermal Evaporation, Electron Beam Evaporation, and Arc Deposition I use this book all the time.The only drawback is that it is huge but I liked it so much, I simply bought a copy for the lab and a copy for home.

Practical Handbook from a very practical man.
This is a valuable Handbook for people working in related industries, universities and research institutes.

Avoid if possible
Every other engineering and science book I have seen has used "rho" as the standard variable for density.This author uses "D".ALL the formula are like that.He just uses his own variable regardless of what the standard is.This is not only extremely annoying, this is also unacceptably for a scientist or engineer. This index makes the book extremely confusing to read and coupled with a poor index, it's practically useless as a reference.

Very Good
This is the best material processing book for lasers that I know of. A good starter and reference book. The only other good source of reading that I know of are the LIA publications. Most importantly it describes in a surprisingly clear way the properties of a beam as they relate to processing, and good basic equations for heat transfer.

Basic but very informative
This book is amazingly good for those who are new in this field. It startsfrom the scratch and then makes your concepts. I think everybody shouldhave one copy.

Best book on laser material processing, with nice pictures
You can't think of a process in the laser business that isn't described in this book. Especially if you are an not a pro in laserstuff but still interested in the basics of laserprocessing, like welding, hardening, cutting etc.Read more

The book is written from a reader's/student's perspective: Clear and to the point.
A book I can recommend for my CIM course students!
I have taught a course on CIM for several years to fourth-year Mechanical Engineering students, but could not find a book to recommend.Well, this year my students will have a book for this course!The presentation and writing are clear, with many insights into the subject of manufacturing.The clarity of writing is matched by excellent illustrations.The book is well-edited, with very few misspellings and errors.With a broad range of manufacturing topics covered in a relatively small volume, the material is presented in a concise manner, which actually makes it easier for the reader to grasp the essential concepts without being overwhelmed with excessive details on any one subject. At the same time, there is enough theory to give something to explain in class and something to test on the exams.This approach should make this a good textbook for my students.

Although I have done SPE for several years, I was surprised that this book can brought me so much more ideas and concepts. This readable book shows not only how but also why to choose an approach/adsorbent. Detailed but concise descriptions of SPE theories on reversed/normal phase and ion exchange are suitable for both novices and aces.
