A Master Class In Hazard Avoidance And Mitigation
"What Went Wrong?" is a well thought-out book on practical safety in the chemical processing industry. The book recounts numerous actual process plant accidents and incidents, includes causes and effects, and avoidance and mitigation practices.
Itemized Case History of Accidents in the Chemical Industry
What I like most about this book is its index and table of contents. It is easy to find a type of accident. For example, when I turned to page 291, I found an exact, simple description of the dangers resulting from the flow of a non-conducting liquid, i.e., one with a low dielectric constant --- like toluene (2.4 compared to water with a constant of 80). "The danger is that a spark could discharge between a body of liquid and grounded metal." In other words, a high voltage shock will knock you off your feet.

A General Overview Of Occupational Safety
I used this book in a graduate Industrial Safety Management class, and agree with reviewer David Sullivan's assessment that this book is a good general overview of occupational safety and health issues, but that it is definitely more useful at the undergraduate level. I have a decent background in this area, and found no groundbreaking insights in this text, though I do believe that people (and especially students) new to the field would find it quite useful.
An Good Introductory Text
This book is a good introduction into occupational safety.Some of the information, especially in the area of robotics safety and automation, is quite dated.While this book is used in some graduate programs, it is more suited for the undergraduate.Important historical items such as Chernobyl were left out while other less fatal disasters were left in, but we can forgive the author if he includes it in his next version.

I have worked in this field for several years and observed Fortune 500 companies in every phase of implementing behavior-based safety into their organizations. I have witnessed first hand all of the major consulting companies installing BBS initiatives using the books of other authors in this field.I can unequivocally recommend Dr. McSween's book as the most successful and practical.

This is a great, great book. Having studied safety culture management for many years, this is the best book I have seen on the subject. Illuminating Systems Safety Overview
In this book, Nicholas Bahr has taken the complex discipline of systems safety and made it accessible in a logical, useful format. The book is clear and well illustrated (although a couple of the charts are a bit cumbersome and unwieldy), and calls upon numerous case studies to illustrate key points. There are separate chapters of Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Safety Analysis in Engineering, and Safety Management. A good book for the student and the experienced professional

Can't Wait for New Edition in December 2005
Great book.As an educator, it was the best one on the market.It only lacks current data, but the new edition coming in a couple of months should take care of that.

Safety and Health for Engineers
I just passed my ASP and this book was an excellent introductory text.While it is understood that many other reference have to be used, I recommend this book as one of the first you review.

Good idea, but flawed execution
Although this text does cover a wide range of safety topics, it is somewhat dated and contains a farly large number of typos.Therefore, the reader has to be careful.The book needs to be updated and the typographical errors corrected.If that were to be done, it would definitely be a five star book. ... Great Book for the Library of both Professional and Layman
The Executive Protection Professional's Manual is an excellent read both for those involved in the profession and those of us who have been on the periferal of such work. Dr. Holder's unique perspective may stem from his extensive martial arts training, his considerable life experience, or analysis of human behavior. EPP from the worlds best!
After viewing Grandmaster Holder's martial arts videos I had to get this book. I highly suggest this book to anyone with an interest in EPP.
