Excellent book on Zero Quality Control
The author has really shown the way to achieve zero defect through best method of quality control. The idea implementation of source inspection, self checks and successive checks and their result is really impressive. Various method shown to eliminate various errors and defects during manufacturing provides the eye-opening to people who want to acheive zero defects with zero quality control.

This book is for all practicing professional on SPC and an eye-opener for the novice. The best book to learn SPC
SPC is a widely MISUSED and OVERused term in the manufacturing world. It is amazing how many myths and misunderstandings exist and are accepted as rules of thumb. Understanding Statistical Process Control explains the foundations of Shewhart's control charts in depth, tying up its usage in real world. This is the simplest, most accurate guide for learning and applying SPC. Wheeler carefully separates the facts from fiction. His examples and excercises give reader a chance to see how control charts should be used in real world.

Innovative and appropriate in today's world
The author makes an excellent connection between quality and ethics.Although the topic of moral may make the super left-brainers uneasy, it is an important issue.The book also points out fragmentation of today's organizations, its negative consequence on quality, and suggested solutions.

Detailed, yet not well organized
This book is not written very well (its 47.2 oz weight is a testamount to that: 47.2 oz on one topic?)Book has plenty of rounding errors and is not organized very well.Some topics are not explained well, and at 47.2 oz, a lot of weight is moved in pages to figure things out.I don't recomend this book.Find a shorter one.

Where is the real world?
Not the quality I would expect in a textbook titled "Quality".

Timeless book
I believe I first read this book in the mid-1990's when I was working as a product manager for a software application.You will not find a better book to start your journey about understanding requirements. It is a great foundational book before you dive into sophisticated methods like Quality Functional Deployment (QFD). It was an amazing book to read at the time. I just picked up the book today to read a few sections. It's still a great read, it is timeless.

Premier Book on Requirements Exploration
Note the distinction, this is not about Requirements Management, but understanding how to generate and explore requirements for goodness. I love Weinberg because he always makes you think. He takes an unconventional approach and I have never yet read a book of his where I didn't come away with an epiphany, and a completely different understanding of the fundamental problems. Sections 9.2 and 9.4 are classic and worth the price of the book! If you read these and still can't understand why the requirements problem is Hard, change profession.

Time To Stop Printing
I buy a lot of books from amazon, and I rarely make any comments. The material and style of this book are outdated, and it is vague on content. The authors should make a revised version, or the book should no longer be printed.

Accessible Exposition of Principles but the Devil's in the Details

lean for Mom and Pop job shops.
Value stream mapping and lean "nuts and bolts" for high variety - low quantity products. This book walks the reader through the process of setting up a high variety flow. I am no lean expert by an stretch of the imagination, but found this book to be extremely helpful in understanding and implementing the technique of flow.

To write a book about baseball, you have to play it
I was really excited to find a book merging Six Sigma and Software Development, but after reading the book, I still have no idea "how" I would implement the methodology.Tayntor clearly understands the Six Sigma theory and practice, but fails to convice me of its relevance to system development life cycle (SDLC) models.
Six Sigma Software Development Disappointment
This book is almost all text.It merely describes six sigma on a very high level; it but never shows you how to apply six sigma methods to software.It has no specific "how" examples.Rather, it has elementary tips on software engineering that any software engineer who's been in the field already knows about.It is too high level.It's a very disappointing book.I do not recommend this book even to begineers in software engineering.

The bible of IQ
To me it is the bible of information quality. Larry explains information quality in all its aspects and everybody who descide to step into this area should not read but study this book. This is a very good pylon on your journey with information quality.
Deming for data
While providing some of the traditional quality assessment measures, Larry English provides a Deming 14-points approach to information quality and continuous data quality improvement.For example, instead or rewarding those who find major quality problems, change the culture to provide quality early in the process.His chapter on "assessing data definition" quality is an important step often neglected.For example, some of us are may be using minimal metadata (perhaps federally mandated standards) that are inadequate for true enterprise wide data definition.The examples included in the book (particularly in "High costs of low quality data") are instructive, and show how someone saturated with thinking about quality (like Larry English), views such simple things as getting a fax at a hotel.If you are planning a data warehouse, this book might fit nicely into the"Enterprise Infrastructure Evaluation" phase in Moss and Atre's "Business Intelligence Roadmap" terminology.

good reference
I wanted a book to help me improve my SQA system.I bought this book with great expectations. It ended up being a great reference for the CSQE test, but added little practical value to my practical purpose.It is a general overview of several topics that include Quality, CMM, CSQE profile and so on.If you need a reference to study for the CSQE test, this is probably a good book for you.

I'm working toward becoming certified as a software quality engineer (ASQ's CSQE).While researching learning materials, I found that this book is considered to be a solid overview of the CSQE body of knowledge. Good material for beginners

This is a professional's book! It covers quality control at the level that you need -- whether a novice in the field or an experienced professional. It does an excellent job of interrelating all of the aspects of quality control, while letting you focus on the topic at hand; you never feel that you are "out of place" in the process. This book is so good that we are going to use it as the reference/source for our training programs that cover not only quality control but quality control's relationship with other aspects of operations management and program management. Risk Analysis
A very good book, but a bit too much mathematical detail in deriving formulas for probability distributions; could use better descriptions of when to use each probability distribution.

Best Book for Quantitative Risk Analysis
I believe that this book is the best of many Risk Analysis books. The book's structure, starting from fundamental topics and guiding to advanced topics, is excellent. So, I translated this book into Japanese! You will make the best use of the book with Excel add-in Monte Carlo simulation software like @Risk and Crystal ball that you can get its trial version from the vendor's site(free!). But, the value of this book is not decreased with its sophistitated notation even if you don't have such software. You can enjoy the logic of Quantitative Risk Analysis. Now, the author is preparing his original software. I hope it will be as valuable as this book.

1st edition more useful to a practitioner than the 2nd
Unlike in the first edition, the author seems to have tried his best to eliminate any reference to any simulation software in the second edition. Result: it now reads like any academic simulation text, only less. The first edition wasn't broke. Why fix it? Bring back the classic Vose! ... Read more

Insufficient detail to be of much use
The typesetting of this book makes it very difficult to read. It appears to be a scan of a typed page. In any event, although it does summarize some of the basics of medical device design such as design controls, the design file, submission of an IDE/510(k)/or PMA, it does not give enough detail to be of any use. Deming - The New Economics
In this book W. Edwards Deming details the system of transformation that underlies the 14 Points for Management presented in Out of the Crisis. The system of profound knowledge, as it is called, consists of four parts: appreciation for a system, knowledge about variation, theory of knowledge, and psychology. Describing prevailing management style as a prison, Deming shows how a style based on cooperation rather than competition can help people develop joy in work and learning at the same time that it brings about long-term success in the market. Indicative of Deming's philosophy is his advice to abolish performance reviews on the job and grades in school.

Critique W. Edwards Deming's work at your peril. After all, he probably set whatever standard you're using. This volume - revised by the author before his death in 1993 and partially based on his 1950s work with the Japanese - may strike the contemporary reader as a curious mixture of seminal process thinking and idiosyncratic ruminations on education. Portions read like an artifact of the early 1990s, but in this regard, however, his volume offers a unique perspective on a turning point in American economic history: the shift to the knowledge-based economy. Straightforward, Realistic & Practical
I have recommended this book in my previous review of "Out of the Crisis" to managers who are new to Deming's ideas, being a manual that will be easier and more effective to comprehend and follow. At the finalstages of his life, Deming (1900-1993) wrote this epilogue of his careerwith an honest attitude and sincerity that I, along with many of mycolleagues, admire.
