5-0 out of 5 stars Product Marketing Professionals - BUY THIS BOOK!
The PDMA Handbook is one of those rare and valuable books that characterizes a "body of knowledge" for a professional discipline. It was produced by the preeminent industry organization for New Product Development (NPD) professionals, the PDMA .... This text describes current, best practices in NPD and includes contributions from knowledge leaders in academia, consulting, and industry practice. If you are a CEO, COO, CTO, Marketing Manager, Product Manager, Product Planner, Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Program Manager, or any other professional involved in new product development (especially for technically complex products like hardware and software) you really need this book.4-0 out of 5 stars This book should have been read when it was published!
This book seem to be written by persons who really know what NPD (or NPI) really is. All those described mistakes possible to be done is made by me during last five years...this is a good book. 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
I purchased the PDMA Handbook on the strength of a review and have been very glad I did so.After quoting a few passage to my staff they began to borrow it, and now the Handbook has made the rounds of the office. It isworn and dog-eared, and quoted from on a daily basis.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Implementing Six Sigma Review
I have read multiple books on Six Sigma, but "Implementing Six Sigma", is by far the most practical with a perfect balance of statistical concepts and everyday examples. Finally, there is a book that can show Executives, there is a better way, a true management system that links strategic objectives to bottom-line results. This book is a must for all Six Sigma practioners.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the only Six Sigma book you will need
This is the only Six Sigma book that covers all aspects of the methodology. You will not find another book that analyses every aspect of Six Sigma so deeply and yet, in a way that makes it so easy to understand.
5-0 out of 5 stars The reference
This is the book about six sigma.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE Performance Management Authority
Daniels provides the most important explanation of performance management out there. As Director of HR for a mid-sized service-based organization, I can attest to the theories in Performance Management as being nothing but clearer, easier to apply, and more effective (simply superior) to those contained in the other seven or so books I've read on the same subject. The information presented in Performance Management will motivate your employees to set higher goals and achieve superior results; better yet, they will actually enjoy doing it. This book is truly essential for any manager or supervisor in search of improving their employees' performance, and, in turn, organizational success.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best explanation of PM
This is the best explanation of the underlying principles available. It is clearly written, accurate and comprehensive, as well as easy to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Performance Management: Improving Quality and Productiivty

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent primer on Robust Engineering... how to book
This book is quite readable, considering the topic, and does an excellent job of explaining the high level strategies of Dr. Taguchi's approach to optimization and experimentation. It also covers tactical issues like how to determine your ideal function and noise strategies.4-0 out of 5 stars How to learn Robust Design
I like this book because it gives a very good introduction into the concepts of noise- and control-factors. It treats the concept of "energy transformation" good, which is important to find the appropriate Ideal Function for your product.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!!
Brussee's Statistics for Six Sigma Made Easy is a wonderful "how to" text for six sigma stat tools that is very readable, and usable, by anyone with at least a high school level background in mathematics. He has done a great job of simplifying much of what a Green Belt would use from the Six Sigma toolkit, and he presents the material in a format highly conducive to application. The result is a valuable statistics manual for the Six Sigma implementer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow
Nice customer seervice and quick shipping. This is Six Sigma style.AAAA+.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Truly Unique and Friendly Six Sigma Book
I am a Black Belt and program manager at a Fortune 100 company.I use and teach Six Sigma regularly, and I strongly believe in the power of this methodology. However, Six Sigma can be complex, bureaucratic, and confusing. This sometimes makes it difficult to get buy-in from others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Engineering Documentation
I am a British Chartered Engineer working mainly in Blue Chip energy-related companies. I have just started using this book in my work and find it strongly re-enforces my passion for excellent documentation and design management. It is clearly the current 'bible' forEngineering Documentation Control and is extremely valuable in showing how to climb the 'Configuration Management Ladder' (page 8). It cuts away the dross and complexity that is plentiful nearly everywhere else. So many of us technologists and managers are struggling with hugely powerful new computer packages that integrate most processes in our companies. This is one of the very few books to chart our course and give us a chance of a reliable way through to simplicity, speed and profitability that are so often promissed but so rarely fully attained.
4-0 out of 5 stars Thorough Industry Configuration Management Resource...
...but not for Software CM.5-0 out of 5 stars Great Inroduction to CM
Unlike the vast majority of books available on configuration management, this book, as the title suggests, focuses entirely on configuration management in industry.Throughout the book, the author focuses on a simplified, fast configuration management system that exceeds DoD standards. This book, in the chapters titled Change Control and Fast Change, has an exceptional explanation of how to handle configuration modifications. In these chapters the author gives a detailed description of how to set up a system that allows the fastest possible changes to take place. Also, many case studies are given in these sections which provide further insight as to how to implement the correct system for a given situation.Overall, the book is very easy to understand, and serves as an excellent introduction and handbook to a configuration management system for industry. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Maybe one of the best books about Operations Management
A breakthrough new way of thinking!
5-0 out of 5 stars Best for Job-Shop Manufacturers
This book was great! I couldn't put it down. The author is able to pull together the best of Lean, Kanban, JIT etc... and apply them in a methodology that truly works for a diverse manufacturing plant. We make hundreds if not thousands of different products, some only once and some are repeats but always in small batches. It was really great to read a manufacturing book that will help a plant like ours. Some really great stuff in this book!
5-0 out of 5 stars Focuses on today's manufacturing climate
As a former manager of strategic planning, now returned to the manufacturing side, I consider this book to be one of the most important I have read over the past several years. What I am seeing in manufacturing is that the cookie cutter products, high tech or not, are moving to either Asia or Mexico. The remaining products are being sold to customers who require a high level of customization on a very short lead time. The author has developed a system to accomplish this.He focuses not just on the nuts and bolts of the shop floor, but also on streamlining the support systems needed to achieve this level of service. If you are in high level manufacturing or corporate management, you need to read this book.If you are at a lower level, you will still be exposed to many ideas which you can incorporate into improving your service, to both internal and external customers, and reducing your lead times.I think it ranks right up there with The Goal as one of the most important business books written in the era of modern manufacturing. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Resource for the Service-minded Process Analyst
I cannot say enough about this book - I first read it a few years ago and gave my copy to a client.I re-purchased the book last year and read it for the third or fourth time and it only gets better.Don't hesitate to buy any ofMichael George's books, as he has a very fluid writing style that makes very technical subjects very interesting and entertaining.
5-0 out of 5 stars Efficient Consistent Services - No LongerImpossible
Until lately it was generally accepted that services should be less efficient, less consistent and more wasteful than production type operations.
5-0 out of 5 stars Solid, heady stuff
Lean Six Sigma defends the doubtful proposition that higher quality, higher speed and lower costs can be simultaneously designed into the key business processes of any company. The focus of this book is service companies, though many examples are from manufacturing companies. The author elegantly makes the argument; but adds a great deal of content that is more-or-less a technical HOW TO manual for doing Lean Six Sigma in the reader's own service organization. If you are more of a philosopher than an engineer, these passages may make you impatient. If you're an engineer, you will almost certainly want the companion handbook that the author has also published, focusing on the analytical tools. Through his very logical, thorough, precise and methodical narrative, the author transforms a doubtful proposition into an arguable one. Given the importance of the goal, that's a major accomplishment and well worth your devoted attention. It will have to be devoted, rather than casual, because the book is rather too long for philosophers like me. I learned more than I needed to know. Most of that length is for left brain people who are needed to implement Lean Six Sigma for Service. However, the right brain reader can get nicely grounded thanks to this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a really good book on a subject that can be boring
Because of work, I have had to read a lot of books on this topic... most of them are dry-textbook reads that you have to slog through. This one was well written - the text was easy to read - the diagrams and examples were interesting, and I found myself gaining new insights because I was actually reading the text instead of skimming it. Mr. Gryna clearly has the years of experience needed to write this kind of book, but he also has the teaching style of one of your favorite teachers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the buy!
I have not found such a comprehensive book for design of six sigma. I started using this book for advanced experimental design and taguchi methods, but ended understanding the complete roadmap for design of six sigma. The systems approach allows an enthusiast reader to start anywhere, without having to spend time refering back to earlier chapters. The relatively newer trends as TRIZ and axiomatic design have also been nicely dealt with.5-0 out of 5 stars A book serves all your needs
This is an outstanding DFSS book for production development. It contains integrated information and some of which you could hardly find anywhere else, thus with one book in hand, you have all the tools to get to your destination. This is also a easy to read book providing the reader with a solid understanding- Concepts are clearly defined, real world examples/ case studies are fully described and the chapters are well organized. It can serve as a textbook for students/beginners and also can serve as a handbook for experienced engineers. 3-0 out of 5 stars Full of information and errors
This is a book with a lot of information. Each chapter can be used as a starting point for a specific six sigma technique. However, this is the worst edited book I have ever read. You can hardly find one page without errors/typos. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical techniques that will have an impact on your ETL
Concepts and technical approaches for analyzing and improving the usefullness of source data are presented in a well organized and logical sequence. Not quite a roadmap/algorithm for achieving data quality; it's balanced a little more on the conceptual side. The techniques and concepts presented are ones you _will_ want to begin using if you have any data quality issues in your source data (and who doesn't), I guarantee that.As a working ETL developer referencing disparate, low quality data, this book has had an impact on our approach, our results, and our project.Short and to the point, it's an easy study also!

5-0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking book! The scoop on Data Profiling.
Jack Olson coined the term "data profiling" and essentially founded this important new field in the area of data quality assessment. His revolutionary techniques, outlined in this book, can provide IT professionals with an important new set of tools for analyzing data quality. This is a must read for anyone working in the data quality field today.I also recommend it for people in related fields such as data warehousing, Enterprise Application Integration, and database design. With so many "me too" books in the computer field, it's a real joy to find a book that really does break new ground.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Data Quality Book (repost)
This book is the clearest, most practical book on data profiling and data quality that I have seen. 5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a table of contents for further reading.
This is a great first book on the subject of reliability.Every reliability engineer should have a copy as well as engineering managers concerned about warranty costs. But the other reviewers wrote much the same.I have used this book even further.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to the subject
For students and engineers starting in the reliability field, this is a really good first book to have on your shelf. It covers most of the basic concepts in way that is easy to read and understand, at a reasonable price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great SPC book
Used this book in a graduate level course on SPC.The book and the excercises were interesting and highly informative, as are all of Dr. Montgomery's numerous texts. Most concepts are backed up with liberal examples to help understand the theory and cement the concept and their practical applications, and run the whole gamut from management to electrical engineering problems. Many of the tables in the back of the book, such as the random number table, are outdated due to computers, however these may have been dropped in the new version of the text.

5-0 out of 5 stars good book worst service
the book is very good ..no doubt but the service is aweful. 5-0 out of 5 stars Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about SPC
As the developer of the QI Macros SPC Software for Excel, customers often call with exotic questions about statistical methods for quality control. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This book is a must have for all the managers and profesionals that need a complete and detailed reference for software metrics. It provides clear explanations and examples. It is very easy to read and very practical.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real World Proven
As the System Test Team Leader for the Quality Technology area, I had to certify many of the tools and procedures used by Stephen Kan.Prior to that, as a System Administrator, I had to run software metrics on those tools, like those shown in table 6.3.As a design review moderator, I was charged with leading a number of IR, IE and I0 reviews.
5-0 out of 5 stars Second Ed. even better!
This is one of the most highly regarded books on software quality. If you have never read the first edition it was one of the few books that covered software quality in depth, going well beyond metrics and models into strategies for achieving quality, and understanding the underlying principles and mechanics. That edition had a lot of life left in it, but this second edition is one of the most complete rewrites of any technical book I've read in recent memory, and if you own the first edition you may want to consider retiring it and investing in this edition.Read more
