Caveat Emptor
The second chapter is the nuts and bolts of financing equipment. The numbers are commonly wrong. There are WAY to many mistakes. This is a textbook for a heavy equipment class. It's the third week of the semester (Fresno State) and we're dying...

No attention to detail
This book had so many errors, the entire class including the instructor were confused.It is very sad to see a textbook in its fifth or sixth edition with so many mistakes.Many of the questions at the end of the chapter are so poorly written, that there was no solution.Clearly, the authors had a goal and a message to convey, but because there was no attention to detail, the message was muddy at best.I remain disenchanted with the general quality of textbooks, but this is one of the worst examples of a textbook I have ever seen.Come on America, educate! ... The Best Drilling Book to Date
If you are looking for a good book on environmental, geotechnical or hydrogeology drilling this is the BOOK it is set up so even a driller can understand basic concepts and gives engineers a good idea about drilling practices and concepts.

Im a driller in Mexico, I have found this book very useful, it covers a lot of topics, It is very well explained and very detailed in any subject, from measures to drilling techniques as well as machinery and tools and geology for drillers.Read more

This book should be required reading for every electric power user
This book provides a lot of facts and is easy to read despite being about a subject that is somewhat complex. I think the author tries to be fair, it's just that the facts regarding the use of coal are so overwhlemingly negative. As he points out there are ways to use coal that might make it less polluting - they aren't being used much as it raises the cost of using coal. But there is no way around the enviromental destruction caused by mining coal. Everyone needs to read this book and get informed about the choices we must make regarding energy production. There are no easy answers as this book explains, but we can still make better decisions if we are willing to pay for them.

The book falters from the start with a fairly poor presentation of the Coal Deposits of the World and USA in particular... for example, the reader is presented with a grey scale-coded map of the USA coal deposits - but we are given no legend to explain what the different grey shades represent! If I want to learn about American Coal deposits, I'd do much better looking in an encyclopedia.

Received the book that i bought in 1.5 weeks and with no hassels.

Diagrams Please!
The text was ok except for the fact that the chapter problems did not include any illustrations.A lot of time the students had to guess at exactly what Sturm meant. Towards the end of the course it became routine for us to work the problem first and then check in the teacher's key to make sure that we set it up the way Sturm meant for us to. The class was made of seniors and graduate students.Read more

Valuable reference in environmental field
This is a recommended reading text in a 3rd yr Env. Science paper here in N.Z. I find it relevant and pertinent - highly recommended

Great resource! I wish it had been available 20 years ago.
Nazaroff and Cohen-Alvarez: Where were you when I got interested in this field a long time ago? I used to buy several texts to cover the material ccvered in this great book. It combines information from various disciplines and provides a comprehensive resource that is invaluable. It covers the basics and takes the reader-user through to applications. It is obviously a valuable resource for engineering students and faculty as well as practitioners.

Wow! Best work on this important subject.

Most complete and credible book on the topic
After reading a couple of books about composting toilets and graywater systems that were either suspiciously poetic or a little too humorous, I was happy to find this book. The best book out there
I would venture that the authors have forgotten more about toilets than most of the rest of us will ever know.There is no possible toilet configuration that does not receive at least cursory discussion.I only have 2 complaints about the book, both of them minor.First there were a couple of systems that I felt were described incompletely and critiqued a bit unfairly.Second, much of the book seemed to be a compilation of other writings without a lot of editing.Consequently there is significant repetition, and a presentation of information that is sometimes slightly disorganized and confusing. Impressive, comprehensive, reader friendly, practical.

learning to use STELLA on different problems
The book teaches the use of a modelling program called STELLA, that can be used to simulate the behaviour of dynamical systems. You can treat the text as an extended user's manual about the capabilities of STELLA. It appears to be an easy program to learn. Its user interface hides the gory details of coupled integro-differential equations that actually model the systems.
Dynamic Modeling, Second Edition
This is an excellent book for beginning and intermediate modelers. I found it to be engaging, practical, and easy to understand. Dynamic modeling has become an essential tool to facilitate understanding developments in our increasingly complex and interdependent world, to communicate ideas across disciplinary boundaries, and to help solve problems. This book is a great place to begin. It offers a hands-on introduction to dynamic modeling. Great blend of concept and practice
I have been involved in static data modeling as part of database design throughout my career, and because of that know very well that to really learn how to model, you have to do more than listen to lectures or read a text. This book, along with the accompanying STELLA modeling tool, is an excellent blend of concept and practice.Read more

Save your Money
This book was a wasste of time and money. The book focuses more on being a pool professional then the actual "how-to" a pool owner needs to work on their pool. It has more information on changing a light fixtures and on bilking wealthy Malibu folks out of cash then actual useful information.
Helpful Tool
This book is a helpful tool for any pool owner or someone interested in having a pool.

NOT the best book to buy.
