4-0 out of 5 stars Good Review
This book provides a good overview of problems, but bring extra reference material to the exam. This book only shows one way of doing problems and there are easier methods out there. However, this book does provide a good general reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute must have for Exam Review and for Everyday Engineering
This book is the absolute very best to study Hydrology and Hydraullics for classroon study. After graduation this book was used for my exam review and I reference the manual in everyday actual applications. You will find there are many books to study hydrology and hydraullics but none that is more fundamentally rich with extensive examples of real life situations. This book is the most used reference book I have used.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for hydrology and hydraulics
I have recently graduated and am currently working as a Civil/Transportation Engineer for a consulting company.I have used the book in my Water Resources course and worked on it in my Advanced Hydrology class. The strength of the book is all the examples. Many of these are conveniently set up in Table form with a key provided at the bottom of each table. It is an excellent resource that I am using as a reference material now.
5-0 out of 5 stars Coming from someone who knows this book inside and out...
This textbook is fantastic, very well thought out, great use of examples and background information.I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at Johns Hopkins University and an Engineer at NASA and have worked with this textbook for creating a new edition with Dr. Ram Gupta (the author of the text) and can say for certain that this text is a great resource for hydrology inside and outside of class. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars H2Oh, my God!
When I was in my teens and early twenties, I had horrible, horrible acne. I tried all kinds of things; medicines, creams, soaps. My acne would dissapear for a little bit and then come back with a vengeance. I was about ready to give up. But one day I was sitting there and I was just looking at a glass of water I had poured. The morning sunlight that was streaming in through the kitchen windows hit the glass of water just right and it really caught my attention; it was absolutely beautiful. I held up that glass of water to the sun and said from a place of love, "This is beauty water. This water cleanses, purifies, and beautifies my skin..." And then I drank the water. The water actually tasted better...it was so weird...
4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
Once again, Mr. Emoto does not disappoint. As are all his books, this one is especially enchanting and thought provoking.A must-read while enjoying the waterfront.

3-0 out of 5 stars While the 'message' is interesting (be a good person), need aggressive scientific approach to find out if it is truth or folly
The photos are nice and beautiful and if you are a deeply religious person you probably will take the face value of the book. At least the idea is interesting. However, the methods described didn't sound particulary scientific and made it very difficult for others to attempt to duplicate it. If I ever get a hand on a high res microscope and a sub-freezing room, I will give it a shot with Bach and Iron Maiden, however, I find it hard to believe.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the best but good enough

4-0 out of 5 stars An old fashion approach to reservoir engineering
This is one of the traditional textbooks of reservoir engineering that has survived the pass of time because of its undoubtful quality. The book has a considerable number of solved and proposed exercises and the subjects are presented in a manner very easy to understand. It was originally written at the time in which material balance calculations were the basic algoritm used by reservoir engineers to characterize hidrocarbon reservoirs. As such, this book is organized in terms of the material balance equation: it goes from material balance applied to dry gas, the next chapter is about material balance applied to gas-condensate, then undersaturated and so on, until all diferent fluids are covered. A variety of procedures to do the material balance calculations are presented, many of them of little or no usefulness today and definitely not even mentioned in modern reservoir engineering courses. Important topics such as PVT are dispersed in all the chapters. Other such as pressure testing and inmiscible displacement are covered without adequate depth. Numerical simulation is not even an entry in the subject index. In summary, if your interest is to read about material balance methods in reservoir engineering, this is the book to pick. If you are seeking a general view of the subject then there are better options.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick delivery and good quality
I am using this book as a course text in one course at grad school. In particular, I was impressed with the delivery quickly and and good quality of book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Never disappointed with Dingman's text
In the past, if I needed a quick, understandable description of any hydrologic term or process, Dingman's text was the first choice. This is a well written, well organized text which offers all the fundamentals. If need to look up some hydro term or process, this text will invariably have it and if it doesn't offer a good description, it will give you a nugget of info to build on and further your research.Great text!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Good information, not so great layout
There is a lot of good information packed into this book but as a student, I have found it a very frustrating textbook to use.The reader is bombarded with equations without a good general overview first.A glossary would also be helpful. The units of many equations are left out. This is confusing since for many empirical equations, the units cannot be derived from dimensional analysis. Finally, like many hydrology textbooks, there are literally hundreds of Greek symbols used throughout.Without any glossary or table of symbols used in each chapter, it is very difficult to go back and find the original definition and derivation, should I forget what one of the symbols stands for. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Lake Detective... He Can't Be Stumped!A great GLer
This is that guy from AM1500 KSTP... Garage Logic, with Joe Soucheray. He goes by "The Lake Detective", and all he does is lakes, I guess. He's found a great niche in MN, land of 10,000 of 'em.Being a lakeshore owner, I've already used some of his techniques to keep my shore in great shape. The beauty of a lot of his approaches is that the solutions mostly seem pretty low-tech and inexpensive. But that's a good thing.I didn't have to rent expensive equipment to get my shore cleared, and the results have been great.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Completely Worthless
Caldicott has not changed. Her approach to nuclear energy is list some emitted radioactive isotopes of a process or perhaps some barely probable radioactive emissions. She neglects to mentions the doses are almost invariably minute, do not harm human health, and are way below radiation doses provided by mother nature.

In this book Helen Caldicott covers a wide range of issues involved in the nuclear debate, the many core people involved, both pro and against, and the scientific studies available. She explains the history of and the technology involved in nuclear power in detail and discusses 'green' technology alternatives.

Last night in his State of the Union speech, G. W. Bush pointed out the obvious fact that America depends far too heavily on oil to support its lifestyle.Whoever programmed him to say that must have been reacting to the mounting unrest over the crises associated with big oil:war, pollution, corruption, and extreme flabbiness.

I purchased this book after reading Kunstler's most recent book, The Long Emergency. I found the author had much to say though at times his stridency and passion may have clouded his message somewhat. But hey, if we are talking about the end of society as we have known it for the last one hundred years perhaps a little passion can't hurt. I was moved enough however, to purchase his earlier book (1994), The Geography of Nowhere.
