Clear and Precise
The manual has been helpful to me in figuring out where to start and the best order in which to proceed.Although it can be a bit dry at times, being a textbook manual, I have very little complaints.Very useful just for the start-up cost list alone.Katz really leaves no stone unturned, I have been carrying this around and making notes left and right.Also, has been helpful in bolstering my confidence before heading into the foray of contractors, plumbers and designers.I will be curious to see how I feel about this book in a year from now, but at this time in the planning stages, it is very reassuring and insightful.

Very Good, a nice refresher
After taking Cisco CCNA 1 and gaining a summer job at a school district, I have found this book very helpful. Though the information is taught in CCNA and A+ classes is the same, this book is a nice refresher and good step by step problem solving guide nevertheless.

The author is director of Dealer Development for ADT Security Systems with 30 years practical field experience.The back cover includes an endorsement by Tom Hopkins, Master Sales Trainer, author of How to Masterthe Art of Selling.The title of the book suggested to me that it would bedealing with many areas of the security alarm business.But from frontcover to back, it very heavily emphasizes professional salemanship.How toeffectively find pro sales people, train them, help motivate them toincrease sales.Most of this information about salesmanship is general -not particularly confined to the security alarm business.The words,"salesperson" or "salepeople" can be found on almostevery page of this book.The author does have another book, "TheFormula for Selling Alarm Systems" which he states will teach you howto sell alarm systems.He goes on to say it is the best alarm salestraining book available today.So if alarm salesmanship is what you areinterested in, that is the book you should probably get considering theauthor's credentials."Surviving in the Security Alarm Business"is just another salesmanship book.This one, however, just doesn't come ashighly recommended by the author.In fact, he uses "Surviving in theSecurity Alarm Business" to promote the other book including trainingvideos and provides address & phone number for ordering. ... If you already know something about testing, read this:
I have been tasked with creating a technical certification program for a mid-size corporation, and thought I'd arm myself with as many resources as possible. I already had extensive experience in creating tests and performing psychometric analysis of tests in academia, but didn't know anything about applying testing in the workplace. I found Westgaard's approach to be elementary and even a bit patronizing to the reader. If you have never thought about tests before, this may be the book for you, but if you already have some experience with testing, I would not recommend it as a way to expand your knowledge.

Practical, Usable--a Valuable Resource
I picked up a copy of Westgaard's book "Tests That Work" because I was writing tests for training classes.The difference it made in my test-writing is remarkable. Excellent source - leads you easily through the process
I used this book mostly for creating questionnaires regarding respondent's attitudesand beliefs and this book was an excellent source.It leads you all the way through, from developing fair questions to delivering thetest/questionnaire to the intended audience.It includes many valuabletips and pointers, including pitfalls to avoid.I had no idea where tostart, but this book held my hand all the way through!! ...
