Process troubleshooting book.
Boringless, easy to understand and real practical book. Reading this book I have troubleshoot many process problems effectively.
Unique style
The unique style of the author explaining basic concepts with everyday problem expamples is what makes this book very absorbing and useful.

Great for students/interns and young process engineers!
I'm a summer intern in an oil refinery and few of my tasks were to rerate exchangers, fin fan coolers, etc., and I didn't have any experience whatsoever! They don't teach at school how this equipment works in a process context and if you don't have a clue on what you're doing, this is the best book to refer to.It is very elementary, but at the same time, it can be very specific.It goes through fundamental steps for troubleshooting general processes as well as clear explanations of how most of the equipment in the industry work.Highly recommended at any level! ... Best Reference Book Ever for Polymer Science
This book is organized in such a clear fashion that you will find virtually any fundamental polymer property, its origin and related theories in it.Most importantly, this book collects so many property tables that you will be amazed by how useful it is in your research. It is no doubt one of the most cited refrence in publications.A wonderful reference book for graduate students.

Never miss this handbook!!
I am working in Polymer relative field, and I need to know variousproperties of dozens of polymers. I am not a computer, so I could known allof them. Sometime I want to find a handbook for polymer properties, butmost of handbook only summerizes some common polymers. Thus, I can't findthe information through th handbook, but this book gives more than onehundres types of polymers with broad fields such as thermodynamic,mechanical, electrical, etc.. If you are a person who work in the polymerrelative fields, it is definately a handbook you need to have. Trust me,you can make it.

Old fashioned fortran, strong bias on Monte Carlo
There is a very strong bias to MC methods in the book. What they have to say about Molecular Dynamics methods is not really new, most of it is virtually copied from the classic by Allan/Tildesley, and many MD techniques which they consider "advanced" (such as cell list methods, verlet tables, etc.) are shifted to one of the many appendices. They do not talk about ghostparticles for instance or give a detailed account of parallelized algorithms which is really state-of-the art today.
Excellent text for beginners in simulation
Its an excellent book for those who are just beginners in MC & MD simulations. everything is very clearly explained with lot of examples and some related unsolved problems. the text explores this topic indetails with advanced chapters in later sections. Good for anybody int hsi field be it in materials science, physics or related fields.

Perfect for New Grad Students
This book is how I bootstrapped my way into being a molecular simulationist.Anyone who can program in some language can get started writing simple routines for the basic MD and MC simulations.Read more

Great introduction to polymer chem...
I was not able to fit polymer chem into my schedule at University, so I bought this book after graduating.This book is extremely organized and provides a lot of examples.The first of three sections provides a great introduction with the focus on definitions and structure.This is accomplished with very little reference to reactions. This textbook does an excellent job of going over the basics of polmer chemistry.There are insightful questions at the end of chapters that make students think and the book goes over the material in such a way that a background in organic chemistry is not necessary.If you need to learn about polymer chemistry on your own, this book is an excellent purchase.

Can't say anything under 'Totally Satisfied'
As soon as I received this book, I started realize the price is great compared to what the book is offering. We IE usually need to remember some things we learnt while we were studying, and instead of looking for it in many many books, you'll find it here. A friend of mine bought the Maynard's, and sincerely, Salvendy's is a lot better, better focused and clearly explained everything. Great buy!!

Reviewing `The Science of Cooking' by Bristol University (UK) don Peter Barham gives me the pleasure of commenting on a book with differential equations, a subject for which I received my all time lowest grade (a D) in school. Luckily you, dear reader, these equations are no more than window dressing in a sidebar on thermodynamics which, if nothing else, convince us that Dr. Barham knows what he is talking about. And yes, dear reader, Dr. Barham most certainly knows of what he speaks. And, he does an excellent job of communicating this information to the layman.

Fantastic Book
If you want to learn about the title subject, this is a great intro book. And it's probably the most enjoyable theory book you are likely to own, if you purchase it.

Forces you know or not????

~~~Engineering and Science are different on the point that people are trying to understand the phenomena with little knowledge of the physical background. Especially recently the interdisciplinary stuff are more and more challenging, so that's why engineers must have solid background on science. From my own experience, I do not need to take care the thermodyamics, kinetics in my former major, solidmechanics. Well, it's hard to survive if you only have knowledge on structures of a bridge~~ or a composite plate (this is just my own view, please forgive my ignorance). Nano- and Meso- scale materials are related to some mechanical problems. So I got this book to start my research on this. It is useful not only to experts but also to the outdoors like me.~~~ ... Not for the faint of chemistry, "Nanochemistry: A Chemical Approach to Nanomaterials" by Geoffrey Ozin and Andre Arsenault explains the creation and function of materials with at least one dimension between one and 1000 nanometers.If you seek a light narrative about what nanotechnology will bring our world, Nanochemistry is not your book (and it's too heavy to read in bed anyway).If, on the other hand, you seek the scientific details of how nanomaterials really work, this is your textbook or reference.
