Engineer
This book seems to contain plenty of updated information gathered from many good resources. With the exeption of the very many typos, this book is great.

Different point of view
This book covers most of the fundamental knowledge of transportation engineering. The example is straight forward. You might need to adapt it for the real practise. In the descriptive topic, author has his style/vocab. of writing which is quite tough at the begining to understand but his ideas is interesting.

The best car audio book I have purchased
This is the best book on car audio I have purchased or even read. I highly recommend it to anyone building a system or just replacing a head unit. It is well written, yes it does get rather detailed about things, but that is what I was looking for. Thanks Mr Yoder, Cliff "Cyclops" Bryant

No stars for auto audio
I would rate this book at 0 stars if I could, but 1 star is the minimum. Just think about the fact that this book has an infinite number of pages which narrate the history of car audio, the first amplifiers and how they worked, the first transistors,bla bla bla. - All of this without explaining some usefull information such as wire connections, amp channel manipulation, etc. I bought this book but I was very disappointed. I read a lot of books about auto audio, and I must say that this book is not usefull at all, especially to beginners. Dont repeat my mistake by buying this book.

Definitely worth its money... and more!
Believe me when I tell you I was a complete novice where auto audio is concerned. While I have setup several home systems, I have always got all of my cars' systems professionally installed, with the shop providing recommendations on what to buy, etc. I had no real understanding of amps, pre-amps, cross-vers, impedance, etc.I didn't even know what speaker specifications to look for.Read more

Comprehensive information on developing space structures
Sarafin has complied a wealth of useful information on the entire spacecraft structural design lifecycle.The information presented is both detailed, and well backed up by comprehensive references.The book also includes a very good overview of how structural design fits into the larger context of a spacecraft development program. A good book for both practicing structural engineers looking for an introduction to spacecraft structural issues, and systems engineers looking for a better understanding of the issues involved in designing and developing spacecraft structures.

Pretty good starter book
This is not a book for illegal street racers where anything goes, it is specific to cars running in legitimate closed-course competition. I dinged this book a couple of stars, because it did not include anything about performance rallying, or GTI Cup preparation, areas I am most interested in. Racing technology moves so fast that a book like this is partially out of date before it is printed. The "hot tire" last week is only good for a course marker this week. That said, Volkswagen Sport Tuning for Street and Competition does take you through the right stuff, and does a good job for autocrossers, solo, and time-trialists. A current rule-book and Bentley Repair manual is enough information to get you on the track - it's worth the money as a single source of information and a philosophy for preparation. Excellent Handbook VW Fans
I bought this book with the intention of gathering as much information as possible about tuning my Volkswagen.Since my purchase, this book has become my bible for tuning my vehicle.This was the perfect bridge to lead me into more detailed and complex procedures behind tuning my Volkswagen.The book focuses more on the A2 and A1 vehicles, which was a bit of a downer because I drive an A3, but there was still plenty of information presented for the inquiring reader.The book emphasizes racing, and it is also an excellent source for information concerning the various racing organizations and clubs and their respective rules.I recommend this book for anyone new to automotive tuning, or for someone who is new to the specific category of tuning Volkswagens. ... It is written after the author's past works on functional analysis of existing/planned manufacturing systemsin the automobile industry and Toyota in particular. The presentationadopts the evolutionary approach considering that manufacturing systemsaren't merely a product of deliberately planning. Good enough to read as literature, not just a tech book
Good historic and technical info.

Weber Carburetors by Pat Braden
The book does not contain a schematic diagram of the 40 IDF, one of the most popular carburetors for Porsche 356 and is not of much value to me.I would not have purchased it if I had known this.

Webers Demystified
I read this book in one day and then began a complete disassembly of my 40DCOE18 carbs the next day. Where the text was a bit unclear, the pictures more than made up for it. I was able to do both carbs in about 4 hours with no surprises and feeling a lot more confident that I'll be able to tunethese when my car gets reassembled in about a month. Great book. Excelent book, lots of information but reads like a tech buliten and leans toward British stuff
This book is packed with information and is extremly well written to get the facts across.But the writing style is a bit technical, just the facts and how to do it all.it reads like a service bulitin.If you can learn from that then its great but if you cant then you wont be able to get through this book.It also leans toward british stuff, there is a section on carbs and it focus' on the weber side draft and one other british carb that i cant remember the name of right now.all in all it was a good book and if you read it closely you can apply most of it to american vehicles also.I learned alot, even though it was somtimes difficult to hold my intrest.

Good Foundational Book
I just recently attended EFI University and was told by instructor to read this book. It had great information for beginning tuners. It even had section about tuning individual carburetors. The electronic fuel injection section was very informative but gave a slight bias to tuning british vehicles and individual throttle bodies. The book had many british words which I had to look up to understand. It included a special version of Emerald M3DK program to help beginning tuners to gain hands on experience.

Best book for a more advanced home mechanic.
I bought this book because it also covers the Dodge Raider (which was made by Mitsubishi, it's the same as a Montero)and already had the Haynes Manual for the Raider -- which I was somewhat disappointed with.This manual will assist you in performing many repairs which the Haynes manual simply advises you to take to a repair shop.This is OK if you're not confident in your abilities or don't have the correct tools, but I needed guidance for more advanced repairs, and this is where the Chilton's manual excels.It has the common failing of trying to cover too many years, and this can make it somewhat confusing.I suggest purchasing this in addition to the Haynes manual, together they make a good guide to repairs on these vehicles.

Chilton's Mitsubishi Montero & Pickup Repair Manual
I purchased this book to assist my do-it-yourself repairs on my '94 Montero. With the exception of the wiring diagrams which are good, I find this book is poorly organized and lacks critical location information for many of the parts for my truck. There are exploded view drawings that attempt this, but in reality most books aren't going to display this well without a huge expense. This is the first Chilton's manual I've ever purchased, my choice has either been Haynes or the manufacturers shop manuals in the past. Since the book comes sealed (apparently for good reason), I had no way of knowing how poor it was. There is little or no troubleshooting tree, and when provided it is very basic. It would appear that they gathered information for as many years of Mitsu trucks (including Monteros) as possible and put it in this book. I was trying to fix two items on the truck, my seatbelt light stayed on, and coolant was leaking from engine. In this book found no separate subsection on the engine cooling system, it is instead included in pieces in the engine rebuilding section. The book also failed to help me indentify the location or component that was causing the seatbelt light to stay on. I finally called a Mitsubishi mechanic to find it.
