Great kinematics, poor everything else
When it came to the other sections of the book, it seemed to lack much information.a prime example is in the gears section.if you did not read the book in chronological order, you would not understand later chapters.example if you were interested in worm gears, and you didn't read the spur gears section you would be completely lost.For this reason i would say it does not make a good book for reference as it may not be clear if you will need to do some hunting later.
A classic which a passionate Mechanical Engineer should have

The standard reference on gear engineering
One of my two favorite gear books (the other being Drago's Fubdamentals of Gear Design). The 1983 edition is thorough, comprehensive and very readable for a reference book. Surprisingly for an American book of that time, it covers the metric system and standards (ISO, etc.) used in Europe and elsewhere. While the technical standards used in the book have been updated/replaced, it is still current in many areas and lays a solid conceptual basis for gear design.
Great book at its time
This book was probably the best you could buy for introducing gear technology in 1983 (and probably still is). The only problem is that it is scanned pages from the original so all pictures are poor, especially pictures of gear failures cant be copied. At some pages there are also small white dots that covers the text but they are not so many that you get disturbed by them.

A "must have" for design/manufacturing engineers
I teach Product Design Engineering at Ohio State and I can honestly say that Bralla is absolutely the best single reference for working designers and manufacturing engineers that I've found. An incredible compendium of useful infoon just about any manufacturingprocess you can think of, and plenty you HAVEN'T thought of, plus chapterson Design for Assembly, materials, economic considerations - you name it.The book is a bit pricey, but considering the amount of useful informationpacked into it, it's a steal. Besterfield made a true tour de force respect the edition and contain of Quality Control. It provides you of abundant and concise information, explicit and deatiled around the last innovations and advances in this field.

This is a professional's book! It covers quality control at the level that you need -- whether a novice in the field or an experienced professional. It does an excellent job of interrelating all of the aspects of quality control, while letting you focus on the topic at hand; you never feel that you are "out of place" in the process. good book ; bad translation
this is a classic book. however, the new 8th edition is not translated very well. i have an older english version (6th edition, 1968) that is translated much better. even where the content is the same between the two editions, the "updated" translation is worse that in the original version.

A Must-have Book for Fluid Mechanics Researchers!
This is the best and the most classical fluid mechanics book that i have read. Read it through carefully and you will get much from it. Reading it from time to time can give you many new knowledge every time.

Possibly a mandatory text for class, all information inside can be found elsewhere in more detail at a better price.Simple explanations.

Good for Kids, maybe. For adult hobbyists it comes up short.

Excellent Book
Despite the odd typographical error, this book is outstanding.It is clear, concise and quite readable.Material is presented in a manner which is easy to understand.The only slight criticisms are that my copy did not include the promised computer disk, that often the descriptions of what the code does are often hard to understand and that the binding on the book is of extremely poor quality (my copy was losing pages within days of purchase).Otherwise very highly recommended.

Great Material -- This edition is terribly made...
I gave the material in the book 5 stars, but the new edition 0 stars (at least for ~$200).My advisor just bought the newest edition (the old one finally falling apart after years of use) and it is cheaply made.The binding is already coming apart and the text is difficult to read because the text is fuzzy.Hopefully Dr. Bird will write a newer edition with some of the most recent advances and a better printing.

Not for beginners butgood reference ...
This book is not for those just starting out in assembly language programming.This was basically my first time programming in assembly and this book was not a big help.It only skimmed the surface giving a general description of all the components of the 68HC12 microcontroller with no concrete examples to help visualize what was going on.Read more

Super Disappointed
Although this book has a lot of information, it lacks examples and sample problems which help to provide the design confidence I was looking for in an HVAC text.In my opinion this books only value is as a reference for the experienced HVAC engineer.
